The season has started in full swing for the Shreveport/Bossier local area college teams. LSUS season has been going since late October and has compiled a 4-4 record for the season.
The Lady Pilots started on Tuesday with a loss to Texas Wesleyan. DeAuja Thompson tried to bring the Lady Pilots back in the fourth quarter with 14 of her 23 points and also had 5 assists. Angel Reese and Nykeria Jone each had 6 rebounds. Jones also led with 2 blocks. Britney Thompson added 5 assists. The Lady Pilots bounced back on Friday with a win over LeTourneau. DeAuja Thompson once again was the top scorer with 17 points and 8 rebounds.
Centenary Ladies (1-2) traveled Division I local team Northwestern State on Tuesday night and the Lady Demons did not let up with a 91-50 win. Minden’s own Destini Powerl was the Ladies’ high scorer with 13 points. Jazzmyn Jones was the top rebounder with 6. Louisiana College came to the Gold Dome and handed the Ladies a second loss for the week. Addy Tremie was the lead scorer for Centenary with 19 points. Destini Powell banged the boards for 7 rebounds. Addy Tremie kept the defense rolling with 3 steals.
Southern-Shreveport Lady Jaguars (1-3) had a busy late week and picked up their first win of the season. Wednesday night, Bossier’s Kelcee Marshall scored 19 points was not enough to overcome Panola College at Northwood High School. Shreveport’s own Charneshia Collins was also in double digits with 14 points. Former Airline Viking Toria Brooks was the lead rebounder with 8 rebounds and also lead with 4 assists. Thursday night the Lady Jags lost 79-26 to Copiah-Lincoln. Marshall once again was the top scorer with 9 points. Alecai Howard had 7 defensive rebounds and 10 total rebounds for the night. Saturday Southern Shreveport gained their first win of the season with a 104-63 win over Texas Storm. Five Lady Jags scored double-digits. Toria Brooks gained a double-double with 27 points and 11 rebounds. Brooks was one assist away from a triple-double. Sokhna Tourne also had a double-double with 16 points, 12 rebounds. Former Green Oak Giant Charneshia Collins scored 12 points and had 7 assists. Alecia Howard scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Kelcee Marshall scored 10 points and 6 assists.
