Lady Cavaliers Cap Historic Season With Seven on LSWA All-Louisiana Team - Under The Radar - NW Louisiana

The Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavaliers ended a historic season by placing seven on the LSWA All-Louisiana Team.   The Lady Cavs topped the most wins in the program history with a record-breaking 48-8 record and a 25-1 conference record in the East Zone of the Region XIV standings.   The 48 wins were the most in school history and the fourth 40-plus win season under Coach Amanda Nordberg.  Nordberg was one vote short of Coach of the Year honors finishing only behind  LSU’s Beth Torina.    BPCC led the conference in at-bats, runs, home runs, RBIs, On Base Percentage, and slugging percentage.  They tied San Jacinto College – South in hits and batting average.   The Lady Cavalier promising came up short of a National tournament appearance falling in the finals of the Region XIV tournament. 

Receiving first-team honors as a utility player was Amsterdam, Holland native Uchenna Jong Loy.  The sophomore for the Lady Cavaliers gained top honors as the NCAA Region XIV Player of the Year.  Loy led Region XIV with the .521 batting average, 84 RBIs, and 27 home runs.   She also led overall Region XIV in at-bats (169), runs (70), hits (88), doubles (18), total bases, on-base percentage (.581), and an impressive 1.107 slugging percentage.  Loy also broke the BPCC record for highest batting average and tied the record for most hits with Elisa Favela in 2018.   Nationally, the BPCC Lady Cavalier finished third in home runs in all of NJCAA Division I,  sixth in RBIs, and sixth in slugging percentage, third in total bases, and fourth in extra-base hits.  Loy also was the Region XIV East Conference Co-Player of the year along with  Loy grabbed NJCAA Division I Softball All-American honors.  

Grabbing second-team pitcher honors was freshman Primrose Aholeilei.   The Honolulu native finished the season with a 17-3 record and a 2.55 ERA.  She gained the NJCAA Region XIV East Pitcher of the Year honors.  She tied in Region XIV for wins with fellow Lady Cavalier Kiana Pogroszewski.  Aholeilei led Region XIV with 10.86 and was fifth nationally in strikeouts per game.  Other high accolades in the conference for the Lady Cavalier pitcher in Region XIV:  third in games started (21), third in complete games (10), second in shutouts (5), third in strikeouts (166), fifth in batting average against (.232), second in ERA.   

Freshman catcher Samantha Eckert from West Ouachita took second-team honors.   The defensive juggernaut was the Region XIV leader in putouts with 327.   She was also second in total chances with 343.  Eckert’s .994 fielding percentage was the sixth in Region XIV.  The Lady Cavalier was eighth nationally in putouts and tenth in total chances.  Eckert was also chosen on the NJCAA All-Region first team.  

Also taking second-team honors was the first baseman, Haylee Ladner.   Ladner brings her skills to both defense and offense.  The Texas native leads Region XIV in games player with 54.  She also has the second-most plate appearances (202) in the regions.  Pitchers don’t like to see her come to the plate because she is the fourth most walked (24) and top player hit by a pitch in the region (14).  Defensively, she is second in putouts with 224 and fifth in total chances with 234 in Region XIV.  The first baseman also received second-team Region XIV All-Region second-team honors.  

Infielder Dyllan Sanay took honorable mention on the All-Louisiana list.  Sandy’s bat got the recognition.  She had the most plate appearances in Region XIV with 206.  The Lady Cavalier was second in hits (68), fourth in triples (3) and runs (59), and fifth in at-bats (158).  Sanay was also a target of pitchers as she was second in hit by pitches (13) and fifth in walks (22).  The Honolulu native collected first-team honors on the NJCAA Region XIV All-Region Team. 

Shortstop Tullilau Sosi also collected an honorable mention on the All-Louisiana list.  Sosi let her bat speak for her success.  She was second in runs for BPCC in Region XIV.  Sosi was also second in RBIs (59) in REgion XIV.  The Lady Cavalier was third in homers (19).  Other strengths of the Kearns, UT student were fourth in total bases (129), fifth in doubles (13), and plate appearances (185).  Sosi was also named to the Region XIV East Conference Co-Player of the Year along with fellow teammate Uchenna Jogn Loy.  She also received a first-team infield on the NJCAA Region XIV All-Region.

Kennedy Cox rounded out the accolade for the Lady Cavalier by getting an honorable mention for the outfield.  Cox hitting got her noticed for the list.  She was the Region XIV leader in triples (7) and also fifth in hits (65).  Cox was also fifth in total bases with 123.  Cox also was honored with the first-team  NJCAA Region XIV All-Region Team and NJCAA.
