The last track meets before the district track meets and then regionals kicked in Week 6.  Lots of great performances from around the area.   

Llewellyn Starks Invitational (Jonesboro) (April 11)

The Llewellyn Starks Invitational was scheduled for the week before but weather decided to push it back a week.  Grant won both the boys and girls team competition.   Doyline girls gave a run for the title and finished second with some strong finishes.   Host school Jonesboro-Hodge placed second in the boys competition. 

The host team went to the podium in 17 events for the girls and boys.   A’Jorianna Hoggro gave the Lady Tigers three second place medals in the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, and the high jump.  Sydney Malone also finished second in the discus.  The boys team racked up the medals.  Zion Gray had a perfect four for four on his events.  Gray won the 400 (53.36), long jump (20-8.5), triple jump (42-7.5), and as part of the 4 x 400 relay team (3:40.64). Gray;s long jump and triple jump added him to the Gold Team.  His 400 run and the 4 x 400 relay was enough for the Silver Team.  Other members of the 4 x 400 relay team were Savantez Phillips, Cameron Leonard, and D’Marrian Thompson.   Phillips won individual event medals by winning the 100 hurdles (15.81) and placing second in the 300 hurdles.  Phillips 100 hurdles run was enough for the Silver Team this week.. Phillips along with Leonard, Darrion Moss, and O’Marrion Jackson were part of the winning 4 x 200 relay team (1:32.62). The 4 x 200 relay team reached Silver status. Leonard was also placed third in the 300 hurdles.  O’Marrion Jackson finished second in the 100.  Jackson and Moss along with Christian McGuire and Kalep Atkins were runner-up in the 4 x 100.  They may have been runner-up in the race but on the Gold Team for the week.  McGuire gained a gold medal along with D’Marrian Thompson, Daelan Boston, and Symeon Malon on the 4 x 800 relay team (9:44.45). Malone gained a second gold medal in the javelin (138-6).  Malone’s javelin toss landed him on the Silver Team for the week.  Quierese Howard finished third on the shot put. 

Ringgold Lady Skins favorite number were three.  All medals won by Ringgold girls were third place.  Rihanna Adams, Heather Cox, and Kenoriyae Weathers all placed third in the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relay.  Joining the three above on the 4 x 100 was Daniya Moore.  Janasia Hullaby was also part of the 4 x 200 relay.  Hullaby received an individual third place in the 400 m run and a spot on the Silver Team for the week.  Zyon Bell placed third in the shot put.  Ladasha Wright was third in the discus.  Arianna Ivory tossed the javelin to a third place finish.   Ty’Daveon Moore and Ladaunte McCoy took three medal back home to Bienville Parish.  Both Moore and McCoy were part of the third place 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relay teams.   Xzorion Willis joined on both relay teams.   Devin Rushing was part of the 4 x 100.  Trevor Williams was the fourth member of the 4 x 200.  Moore won an individual runner-up in the 200.  McCoy placed third in the 100 race. J’Bari Adams won the only gold medal for Ringgold in winning the high jump (5-10).  Adams placed third in the triple jump.  Jordyn Wilson finished second in the 800.  Antravion Kinsey was runner-up in the long jump and received a spot on the Silver Team.  Rondarius Shorty tossed to a second place finish in the discus.  Caden Allums finished the 200 in third.  

Weston Wolves and Lady Wolves reached the medal podium in 14 events. The Lady Wolves found success in the throwing events. Jalexia Claridy took two first place medals in the shot put (32-7) and discus (82-11.5).  Claridy’s two performances also garnered her two spots on the Gold Team.   The Lady Wolves finished 1-2 in the javelin with Sayde Crumby winning the event (74-04) and Alley Hines finished second.   Keely Davis took two individual medals with two third places in the 100 dash and 300 hurdles.  Hannah Risher ran for a second place medal in the 1600 m run.  Lexie Millien finished second in the long jump.   Ronneica Kimble took bronze in the 200 run.  The Lady Wolves finished second in both the 4 x 100 relay and 4 x 200 relay.   The boys 4 x 400 relay team completed third place.  Ben Ramsey was runner-up in shot put.  Darrin Allen was second in the javelin. 

Doyline girls were some gold miners you could say.   The Lady Panthers won first place in eight events.  This was enough to grab second place in the team competition.   Doyline’s Izayla Harris brought the track show to Jonesboro again with another perfect four for four first place finishes.  Harris won the 100 (12.21), 200 (25.57), 400 (1:01.80), and triple jump (34-2).  All four of Harris’ performance placed her on the Gold Team for the week.  Takerria Washington won three first place medals in the 800 (2:55.37), 300 hurdles (55.92), and as part of the 4 x 200 relay team (2:01.71).  Washington’s 800 run was strong enough to make the Silver Team.   Other members of the 4 x 200 relay team were Peyton Handy, Nadia Lara, and Koda Jackson.  Peyton Handy also grabbed first place in the long jump (14-9).  Jackson finished third in the triple jump and reach the Silver Team for the week.  Kamryn Harris was third in the 100 hurdles.  A Doyline Panther boy track team member did well in the long distance runs.  Zach Moreno finished third in both the 1600 and 3200 races.    

Wesley/Payne Parish Relays 2023 (Lee Hedges) (April 12)

Caddo Parish gathered at Lee Hedges for a parish meet last week.  Loyola, Green Oak, and North Caddo took some medals back to their respective schools. 

Loyola reached the podium on 9 different events.  Hayden DeBroeck won the pole vault (6-6) for the Lady Flyers.  Emma Sipes tossed the javelin to a second place finish.  The Lady Flyers 4 x 800 relay team finished third but enough to take the slot on the Gold Team.  The boys also won the 4 x 800 relay race and grabbed a Gold Team spot. Reece Armagost won the pole vault competition (11-7) and achieved the Silver Team for the week.  Eli Baker gave Loyola a gold medal in the high jump (5-10).  Cooper DeFatta slung the javelin to a second place finish.  Franklin Roemer finished third in the 400 but the time was fast enough to get on the Gold Team.  Mark Henry placed third in the 800 race and received a Silver Team honor. 

The Green Oaks Giants boys team captured two medals.  The 4 x 800 relay team finished second and achieved Silver Team status.  Joseph Carroll finished runner-up in the 300 hurdles. 

Choudrant Invitational (April 13)

The Choudrant Invitational hosted a number of teams that had competed in their second track meet of the week.  Earlier in the week, the Jonesboro-Hodge hosted meet was pushed to this week after a rain out the previous week.  The double duty didnt’ dampen performance for those teams, though.   Ruston won the girls competition handily.  Union Parish girls edged out Simsboro by 1.5 points for second place.  Ruston boys piled on 200 points for the boys title.  Castor finished second with 64 points

Simsboro headed to the medal podium for 10 separate events.  Ikeia Brown was a big contributor with four trip including winning the 100 hurdles (15.58), 300 hurdles (47.74), and tied for first in the high jump (5-0).  Brown finished second in the 100.   Brown received Gold Team honors for her 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, and high jump.   Lauryn Vernon was a multiple medal winner also finished third in the long jump and as part of the 4 x 100 relay team.  Vernon’s long jump and 4 x 100 relay team both reached Gold status for the week.  Other members of the 4 x 100 relay team were Jahkeria Abney, Nuna Rollins, and Curniya McCalister.  Vahanti Sproul finished third in the shot put .  Jalen Outley was runner-up in the 200.  Outley’s 200 run raced to the Silver Team.  Tristan Deloney completed the 1600 as runner-up.  Gary Harris hurled the discus to a third place  b

medal.  

Castor reached the medal podium for nine different events.  Anna Kate Myers won the pole vault (8-6) and made the Gold Team for the week.  Jenna Braggs was third in the pole vault.  Ambree Collinsworth tossed the javelin (101-7).  Collinsworth received a Silver Team spot.  Seth Pickett catapulted to another pole vault (12-3) title and a spot on the Gold Team.  Pickett also finished second on the 400.  Jamarion Clark captured two medals also for the Tigers.  Jamarion Clark finished second in the high jump and third in the long jump.  Clark’s high jump reached for a shared spot on the Silver Team.  DeAndre Clark was third in the 300 hurdles.  Dawson Wood hurdles the shot put for a second-place finish. Wood tied for a Gold Team slot with Toby Franklin from Haynesville.

Kaleigh King took two medals for the Lady Wolverines.  She placed second pole vault and third in the 100 hurdles.  King made the Silver team for her pole vault finish. Megan Kelly completed the 1600 in third place for Quitman.  Emma Carter finished third in the high jump. Carter’s high jump qualified for the Silver Team for the week.   Nathan Harvery doubled up on medals by finishing runner-up in 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles.  Harvey’s 300 hurdle performance gained him a spot on the Silver Team for the week.  Gage Horton took third place in the long 3200 race and also gained a spot on the Silver Team for the week.   Taylor Huddleston completed the 1600 race with a third place finish. 

Gibsland-Coleman’s Jordan Allen took home two medals for the Lady Bulldogs.   Allen finished second in the high jump and third in the 300 hurdles.   Both performances gained on the teams of the week as her high jump gave her a shared spot on the Gold Team and her 300 hurdles jumped her to the Silver Team.  Demarquis Durham and Deavery Durham each snagged three medals each for the Gib Bulldogs.  Demarquis Durham won the 100 and as part of the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200.  Deavery Durham, also a member of the two relay teams, took an individual medal placing second in the high jump.  The two Durhams both made the Gold Team with their individual accomplishment for the week.  Other members of the 4 x 100 and 4 x200 relay teams were Carlos Rudolph and Devery Moore, Jr.  Terrence James won the high jump competition and shared a spot on the Silver Team for the week.  Michael Woodford placed third with the triple jump. 

Doyline’s Izayla Harris brought the show once again to the local track meet.  Harris was a perfect four for four winning the 100 (12.08), 200 (25.37), 400 (50.30), and triple jump (36-9.25).   As mentioned before, she had four perfect slots on the Gold Team in all events.  Takkerria Washington placed third in the 800.   Caysten Mingo gave the boy’s track squad a medal placing third in the javelin.  

Weston Lady Wolves took five of the six medals for their team.  Jalexia Claridy won both the shot put (37-3) and discus (87-7).  Her two performances at the Choudrant Relays bumped her into the Gold Team for both events.  Lexie Millien gained two medals for Weston.  Millien was second in the 100 hurdles and was third in the 4 x 200 relay team.  The 100 hurdles time was enough to put Millien on the Silver Team for the week.  Other members of the 4 x 200 team were Keely Davis, Carlynn Waters, and Ronneica Kimble.  Raelynn Shell tossed the javelin to a bronze medal performance.   The lone Weston Wolf from the boys squad to medal was Juan Gonzalez with a third place in the shot put and also a spot on the Silver Team.

The host team’s sole girl medal was from Kamryn Rhodes with a third place in the 1600.  Rhodes run was strong enough to make the Silver Team for the week.   The Aggies finished 1-2 in the discus competition with Peyton Doss (123-2) taking top honors followed by Trevor Trevillion.  Both discus thrower made the two teams of the week with Doss achieving a Gold Team spot and Trevillion making the Silver Team.  Connor Thompson finished third in the 110 hurdles.  Augden Watson’s pole vault performance finished third.  

Converse found success in the 4 x 400 relay races.  The girls team placed third and took the Silver Team spot for the week.   The boys team was runner-up.  Abigail Bozeman continued to dominate in the 3200 race (12:58.00) winning the top honor and a place on the Gold Team for the week. 

Summerfield’s Dalton Wilson won the javelin (152-1) for the Rebels and achieved Gold Team status.  Armiya Williams claimed two medals for the Lady Rebels tossing a second place medal in the shot put and as part of the 4 x 200 relay team.  Other members of the relay team were Akeirah Jones, Ella Adkins, and Zyan Smith.  The runner-up performance placed them on the Silver Team for the week.  

Sterlington Invitational (April 13)

Cedar Creek reached the podium on 10 separate events.  Annie Jones took two first place medals in javelin (119-5) and high jump (4-8).  Jones pulled down a Gold Team spot for her javelin throw.   Maddison Morris won the 800 run (2:35.51).  Morris also snagged a Gold Team slot on the 800 m run.  Caroline James finished as runner-up in the 1600 run.  James added to the Lady Cougars spots on the Gold Team.  The 4 x 400 relay team took bronze but also landed on the Gold Team for the week.  Julieanne Ensminger took third in the long 3200 m run.  The time was enough to add Ensminger to the Silver Team.  Ashlyn Bourn flew the discus to a third place finish.    Myles Carpenter Head showed out on the long runs once again win both the 1600 (4:56.87) and 3200 (10:42.52).  The long distance star finished on the Gold Team for his 3200 performance.  Cole Morganthall vaulted to a third place in the pole vault.  

The Plain Dealing Lions and Lady Lions also showed some strong performances.  The 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relay teams captured the gold medals in the race.  The 4 x 200 had the top performance for the week and was selected to the Gold Team.  The 4 x 100 team garnered a Silver Team spot.  Aj’sia Debose won the 200 (28.91) and finished second in the 100.   Debose’s 200 race placed her on the Silver Team for the week. Kianna Newton finished second on the 200  Brianna Newton strong throws in the shot put and discus gave her two runner-ups and two Silver Team spots.  Aaron Reddix gave the boys track team two second place medals on the 100 and 200 runs.  

Jonesboro-Hodge competed in their second meet of the week.   Zion Gray took three bronze medals back to Jackson Parish.  Gray finished third in the 400, long jump and as part of the 4 x 400 relay team.  Other members of the 4 x 400 relay team were Cameron Leonard, D’Marrian Thompson, and Savantez Phillips.  The 4 x 100 team also finished runner-up.  Members of the 4 x 100 were Travis Adams, Jacorian Norris, Joshua Loyd, and Jeremiah Caldwell.  

Haughton Buccaneer Relay (April 13)

Calvary’s Jackson Burney took three racing medals in the Haughton Relays.  Burney won the 800 (1:58.50), 1600 (4:35.57), and finished second as part of the 4 x 400 relay team.  All three of the races Burney participated in received Gold Team status.  Other members of the 4 x 400 were Landon Sylvie, John Simon, and Kolby Thomas.  Ty Knight finished second behind Burney in the 1600.  Knight’s 1600 race landed him on the Silver Team for the week.  Anna Sarkozi represented the Lady Cavaliers, gaining a third place medal in the 1600 race.  

Haynesville wanted to get one more race in before the district races next week.   Alonzo Jackson finished runner up in the 100 dash and garnered a Silver Team spot for the week.  Toby Franklin hurled the shot put to a second place medal.   Franklin had to share his gold team spot with Dawson Wood from Castor.   Layla Tell jumped to a bronze medal in the high jump.  Tell also had to share her Silver Team spot for the high jump. 

Mac’s Fresh Market Chief Relays (West Ouachita) (April 13)

Mansfield’s trip east on I-20 to Calhourn saw the Wolverine boys and track team reach the podium in six different events.  Jaden Youngblood was there again to bring the show to the hurdles as he won both the 110 hurdles (14.61) and 300 hurdles (39.29).  Isaac Jenkins finished the high jump in second.  The 4 x 200 relay team raced to second place.  On the girl’s side, La’TyKeyunna Sicks finished third in the 100 dash.  Sicks 100 dash received Silver Team honors for the week.  Kaitlyn McDaniel tossed the shot put to a third place finish. 

E. A. Phelps Memorial Relays (Rosepine) (April 14)

Many headed down to Rosepine to compete in the E.A. Phelps Memorial Relays.  Sean Mitcham was the only medal winner for the Tigers.  Mitcham won the triple jump (41-11). Mitcham finished on the Silver Team for the week.
