The Summerfield Rebels and Pleasant Hill Eagles split wins on the first day of the Gibsland-Coleman Tournament on Thursday evening.

The Lady Rebels jumped out to an early start as they took a commanding lead of 19-6 in the first quarter.   Pleasant Hill defense contained the Rebels as they held them to only 5 points in the second quarter and closed the gap to 24-15 at halftime.  The Lady Eagles tried to chip away with the overwhelming first-quarter deficit but could take advantage of another point.  

The Lady Rebels hit a cold streak at the wrong time in the matchup.   A lone shot from Yasmine B. was the only field goal in the final frame for Summerfield.   Pleasant Hill took advantage with a three-pointer by C. Jones.  A clutch free throw by A. Sanders and another field goal along with points by T. Williams closed the gap to 2-points with 39.2 seconds remaining.   The Lady Eagles tied the game with 25 seconds by a basket from A. Hicks.    Looking to go to overtime, Yasmine R. took a last chance shot but missed. The whistle blew for a foul and she made the free throw to take back the lead for the Lady Rebel.  The last chance effort by Pleasant Hill resulted in a blocked three-point attempt by Ajai M.  withstood the Lady Eagles comeback.

Summerfield (4-0) were led on the evening by Yasmine R. with 13 points and Malaysia T. for 10 points.  

Pleasant Hill (0-3) spread the points around as T. Williams, C. Jones, and A. Hicks all contributed 7 points. 

Pleasant Hill Eagles 57, Summerfield Rebels 43

Pleasant Hill flew into an early lead in the first quarter on the backs of Burrough and McGhee who gave the Eagles the early 13-9 lead. 

 The Eagles then opened up the second quarter with a 7-0 run with McGhee getting hot including a three-pointer in the run.  A barrage of threes by the Rebel refused to fall and Summerfield went cold and did not score a field goal for the next three minutes in the quarter.   A small 4-0 run in the final minute by the Rebels closed the gap at halftime to 24-19.  

Deontai L. brought the Rebels within a single point midway through the third quarter.   Deontai hot hand added 9 points in the third quarter alone to get the Rebels within two points to end the quarter down 34-32. 

Summerfield continued to hang close to the Eagles in the first part of the fourth quarter.  McGhee fell victim to his fifth foul and the Eagles lost one of their high scorers with a slim four-point lead at 40-36.   A three by Burroughs brought some breathing space for the Eagles.   Summerfield lost its center due to injury.  Clutch free throws by Burroughs once again widened the lead to eight with half the quarter gone.  A dunk by F. Ford forced the Rebels to regroup and call a timeout.   The Rebels went cold as Pleasant Hill took advantage to move on with the 57-43 win. 

Pleasant Hill (5-0)was led by Burrough who blasted in 28 points for the night. 

Summerfield (2-3) was sparked by Deontai L for 22.  J. Anderson contributed 10.
