The Shreveport United women’s team had a busy week with two matches within three days.  United women headed to Alexandria and brought back a 7-0 win over Central Louisiana FC.  On Saturday, the United women had a crucial 2-2 draw against Cajun Rush.  Shreveport United Women currently are sitting in second place in the Western Conference.  This would qualify them for one of the four playoff spots in the GCPL Women’s division.  The top two in each division qualify.  The Shreveport ladies hold a tiebreaker over Cajun Rush winning the first match and tying this second match.

Shreveport United 2, Cajun Rush 2 (tie)

As the headliner of a doubleheader with the men, Cajun Rush snuck in a second-half goal to grab the tie.  The match had high playoff implications as the two teams plus Baton Rouge United are in a chase for the second-place playoff spot in the Western Conference.  Once again weather played a factor this week as a delayed start to 38 minutes later.  Shreveport United took the 2-0 lead into halftime with goals from Izzy Baltov and Ellie Lawrence and an assist from Kalli Matlock.  Cajun Rush added two in the second half to salvage a tie.

The United ladies will get their makeup home matchup against first-place Mississippi Blues on Sunday, June 25 at 5 pm.

Central Texas Lobos 3, Shreveport United 2

The slide for the Shreveport United men continue.  Also, for the fourth consecutive match the United team lost by one goal.  Unfortunately, the playoff options for United Men are closing fast.  They are eliminated for repeating as regular season champs but are slightly still in the run for the second-place playoff spot.  A win by the Daggers will eliminate them from the playoffs.  No slip room is allowed for United as they must win the remainder of their matches to have a shot.

United had Central Texas behind 2-1 with two goals from Tom Cobham.  The Lobos brought in two more goals to steal the road win.

United will get another home match as they will fight for their playoff lives against FC Sharp Keys at Messmer Field on Saturday at 7:15.
