Week 3 kicked into full gear as Class A joined the action. Although all boys teams have not started yet the girls are in full action.
Several teams participated in tournaments this weekend. For the girls, Doyline and Arcadia competed in the Lakeside Tournament. Doyline girls took the consolation bracket with wins over Lakeside and Minden. Homer, Haynesville, and Plain Dealing all competed in the Battle of the Hardwood at Parkway High School in Bossier City. The Class A schools faced some 2A, 3A, and 4A competition.
For both the boys and the girls, Saline and Ringgold took competed in the Saline Tournament which included 5A Ruston. Dodson headed to Weston to compete in its tournament. Finally, Summerfield headed to Epps to compete in their tournament.
Gibsland-Coleman girls pushed their record to 8-0 with wins over Glenbrook, Union Parish, and Lincoln Prep. Speaking of Glenbrook, the Lady Apaches picked up their first win in the LHSAA with a late-week win over River Oaks.
Castor girls finished 2-0 for the week with wins over Calvin and Claiborne Christian.
Gibsland-Coleman boys finished 2-0 for the week with wins over Union Parish and Lincoln Prep back by big performances by Terrance James.
A note of change on the report. You might notice that we have added the Next 5 or in the girls’ Next 6. We want to highlight as many players as we can and these are outstanding for this week. The girls were Next 6 because two girls had the same stats. Also, we’ve included a new feature called top performances for the week to show the top-scoring performances.
This coming week sees some action in some holiday tournaments. Look for the coaches with a turkey leg in tow…
