BPCC Pulls Upset; LSUS plays Tourney in Florida; Centenary Sweep Week - Under The Radar - NW Louisiana

Shreveport / Bossier had a good turkey week of college basketball with BPCC and Centenary sweeping both of their games.  LSUS took holiday week to the beach.

BPCC (4-3) took both of its games closely over the week including a win over nationally-ranked New Mexico Junior College at Collin College.  The Cavaliers began on Sunday with a win over the Baton Rouge CC Bears.  Derick Hamilton put up a double-double with 20 points and  12 rebounds including 10 defensive rebounds.  Christian Caldwell bucketed 12.  Jeremy Richard hit 11 points.  Kendrick Delahoussaye scored 9 along with 7 rebounds and 7 assists.  Adrian Walker was defensive prowess with 6 blocks.  The upset win over the No. 8 New Mexico Junior College Thunderbirds.  Delahoussaye netted 17 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists.  Caldwell took 13 points and 7 rebounds.  Hamilton added another 12 points.  Walker helped with 6 assists.  Richard had 5 assists.  

Centenary (3-2) bounced back with two 20-plus point wins.  They lost the first game in the Millsaps Tournament last week but defeated the host team in the consolation final with a 23 point win.  Leesville, LA native Jarrell Taylor grabbed a double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds.  Ralph Johnson pocketed 18 points including 4 for 4 from beyond the 3-point arc.  Tevin Baker helped with 8 assists.  Joseph Wiggins and AJ Hall crashed the boards with 6 and 5 rebounds, respectively.   The Gents took the second win of 21 points in Mississippi at the Mississippi University of Women in Columbus, MS.  Hall came off the bench and scored 21 against the Owls.   Taylor had another stellar night with 16 points and 5 rebounds.  Jalen Behr netted 10 and 5 rebounds.  

LSUS Pilots (4-4) took a holiday road trip to Panama City, FL to compete in the Battle at The Beach at Gulf Coast State College.  The Pilots finished 1-2 at the tournament.  LSUS fell to No. 12 University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma 92-78.  The Pilots put five players in double digits despite the loss.  Jeff Boyd bucketed 14 points and 7 rebounds.  Kevin Norman also scored 14 points.  Royce Hunter added 13 points and 6 rebounds.  Lony Francis took 11 points with 6 rebounds.  Leondre Washington scored 11 points and 5 assists.   The Pilots lost on a buzzer-beater to Rust College out of Holly Springs, MS.  Francis led the Pilots with 20 points.  Boyd splashed 13 points.  Akeem White and Kevin Norman crashed the boards for 8 and 6 rebounds, respectively. LSUS rounded out the holiday trip with a win over the Branson, MO-based Baptist Bible College Patriots.  Francis once again led the Pilots with 19 points.  Washington netted 16 points and 5 assists.  White bucketed 14 points and 9 rebounds.  Boyd came close to a double-double with 11 points and 9 rebounds.  Quentin Jones and Kevin Norman snatched 10 and 9 rebounds, respectively for the Pilots.  

SUSLA (1-8) dropped their fifth consecutive game and in their sixth game the Jags gave up more than 90 points in a game.  The Jags fell in their only game this week against National Park 101-73.
