The Weekly Report may have cheated a little this week. After all, we added the Sunday games that normally go to the next week because most are the last game before the Christmas break.   LSUS men’s team did it again as they defeated the No. 8 Southwestern Assemblies of God Lions to close out before the Christmas break.   Centenary’s Seth Thomas also grabbed the SCAC Player of the Week honors.   DeAuja Thompson of LSUS was selected as LSWA Player of the Week. 

Women’s Report

BPCC (7-5, 0-2, 0-1)  Lady Cavaliers got the only win of the local women team with a 68-60 win over Delgado at home.  Ma’Kaila Lewis grabbed a massive double-double with 23 points and 22 rebounds.  Jermia Green scored 11 points, 7 assists, and 6 rebounds.  Faith Robinson rounded out the Lady Cavs with 11 points and 7 rebounds.  The Lady Cavs’ next game will not be until December 30 when they host Coahoma CC.  

LSUS Lady Pilots (5-7) celebrated the Hugs4Kids Toy Drive in the Dillard matchup held last Monday night at The Dock.  LSUS came up short 4 points.  DeAuja Thompson was the top scorer for the Lady Pilots with 23 points and five rebounds.  Tatym Barnes netted 12 points.  Britney Thompson was the top rebounder with 7 for the Lady Pilots.  Chelsey White and Cierra Daniel each had 5 rebounds.  LSUS took on their third Division 1 state team for the year.   Louisiana doubled up on the Lady Pilots for the win.  LSUS stayed within six after the first quarter at 25-19.  UL ran off with the game and a 21-3 third quarter pushed past LSUS.  Tatym Barnes was the Lady Pilots too scorer with 14 points.  DeAuja Thompson added 12 points.  Angel Reese was the top Lady Pilot rebounder with 5.  This was the last game for the Lady Pilots in 2021.  They will begin Red River Conference play on January 6 against Wiley College at the Dock.  

Centenary Ladies (3-8, 1-2) dropped two conference games over last week. They fell to Dallas and Trinity (Tx).  The Ladies had defeated the Dallas Lady Crusaders the week before.  Destini Powell was the lead scorer for Centenary with 10 points and 6 rebounds.  Addy Tremie controlled the boards with 9 rebounds.  Jazzmyn Jones grabbed 6 rebounds. Alana Jones and Katelyn Simon each collected 5 rebounds.  A big 35-10 third quarter by Trinity over Centenary put the game out of reach for the Ladies.  Addy Tremie added a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds.  Jazzmyn Jones contributed 12 points with 5 rebounds.  Amelia Bagwell snatched 7 rebounds including 6 defensive.  Destini Powell added 5 rebounds.  The Ladies will kick back into action with New Year’s Eve game against Southwestern (Tx) and a New Year’s Day game against Texas Lutheran.  Both games will be home matchups. 

Men’s Report

LSUS Pilots (7-5) started the week last week with a big win over Dillard.  They showed that they weren’t scared of the D1 Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.  The Pilots showed they weren’t afraid of a ranked team as they knocked off No. 8 Southwestern Assemblies of God.   Jeff Boyd was the top Pilot scorer against Dillard with 16 points and 6 rebounds.  Royce Hunter piled on 15 points and 7 rebounds. Leondre Washington also netted 15 points.  Kevin Norman scored 12 points and grabbed the most rebounds with 9 rebounds.  Akeem White snatched 7 rebounds.   The Pilots hung with D1 Louisiana Tech until midway in the second half when Jeff Boyd popped a three with 12:57 remaining.  The three woke up the Bulldogs as they went on a 16-1 run that pushed past LSUS.  Quentin Jones scored 18 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.  Royce Hunter netted 13 points and 6 rebounds. Leondre Washington bucketed 11 points.  Akeem White scored 10 and added 8 rebounds.  Jeff Boyd also scored 10 and grabbed 5 boards.   The three consecutive games ended on a high as the Pilots upset No. 8 Southwestern Assemblies of God on the road.  LSUS never gave the lead up the entire game.  Royce Hunter had another stellar game scoring 25 points.  Quentin Jones was the top rebounder with 8 but also added 16 points.  Jeff Boyd netted 10 points.  Lony Francis had a big game off the bench with 13 points and 7 rebounds.  Kevin Norman scored 11 points and 6 rebounds.  Trey Johnson took 7 rebounds and 6 assists.   LSUS will come back from the holiday break and will start Red River Conference play with a home game against Wiley College. 

Centenary Gents (6-4, 2-1) redeemed a previous loss to the University of Dallas and added another conference win over Trinty (TX).  The Gents saw Seth Thomas as the top scorer against the Crusaders with 17 points and 6 rebounds.  Jarrell Taylor netted 14 and grabbed 5 rebounds.   Kile Mingo went 3 for 5 from beyond the arc and scored 13 points.  AJ Hall scored 13 points.   The Gents gave the Tigers their first conference loss of the season and only their second loss of the season.  Braeden Board was the top scorer for the Gents with 21 points and 7 rebounds.   Jalen Behr added 14 points.  Kile Mingo had another strong game with 10 points and 7 rebounds.  Seth Thomas grabbed 7 rebounds.  Jarrell Taylor took 5 defensive rebounds.  Ralph Johnson helped with 6 assists.  The Gents will get back on the court on New Year’s Eve against Southwestern (TX). 

BPCC  Cavaliers (7-5, 2-2, 2-0) took a midweek home win over Delgado CC.   Jaeden Marshall bucketed 21 points with 6 rebounds.  Derick Hamilton scored 16 points and added 8 rebounds.  Christian Caldwell added 12 points.  Rodrell Dryden banged the boards for 6 rebounds.  Kendrick Delahoussaye helped with 7 assists and 5 rebounds.  Jeremy Richard also had 5 rebounds.   The Cavs will return to action on December 30 at home against the Northwestern State JV team.
