UTRNWLA Week 5 High School Softball Report

The middle of March saw the kick-off of some district games and the rolling up of the tournament season.   Tournaments were held at Red River, Stanley, Evangel, Cedar Creek, Buckeye, Summerfield, Grace Christian, and Pineville that contained local teams.   

Reviewing the week’s performances, Choudrant posted a 3-0 week behind two strong pitching performances by Addison Worley and Holly Bennett.  Zoey Smith’s bat was strong enough for the week to place her on the Next 9 list.   Quitman blew through the week going 5-0.   Another massive week for Maggie Guyotte who blasted 6 home runs for the week and 16 RBI not to mention an 11 for 14 batting.  Cali Deal backed her up with a Top 3 Pitching Rotation performance this week.   Cedar Creek, Calvary, and Converse all placed three players each and took up half of the top performance list of the Hot 9 and Next 9.  Cedar Creek was the only team to place two in the Hot 9 as Peyton Muse and Allie Furr both had outstanding weeks.  Two players made both the pitching list and the top-hitting performers’ list:  Florien’s Sarah McDaniel reached Hot 9 status and Next 3 on the pitching list.  Cali Deal from Quitman made both the Hot 9 and Top 3 Pitching lists.
