Turkey Week Sees Teams Head To Tournaments - Under The Radar - NW Louisiana

The local teams around headed to the tournaments all around the northern part of the state.   Calvary Lady Cavaliers headed to Monroe to participate in the Ouachita Christian tournament.  The Lady Cavs on Monday afternoon only took six players to the game and Waldron and Wardell both fouled out in the game against Sterlington.  The Lady Cavs managed to bring the win home with only four players on the court in overtime.  They weren’t so lucky as they came up short against West Ouachita on Tuesday.

Several local Class A, B, and C teams participated for both the boys and girls in the Green Oaks tournament in Shreveport.  Haynesville grabbed their first win of the season with a win over North Caddo.  Layla Tell scored 18 points in the win.  Homer also had three players hit in double digits with their win over Woodlawn.  Plain Dealing swept both their games in the tournament for the girls.   On the boys’ side,  Calvary split their two games falling to BTW and beating Green Oaks.    Magnolia SOE Mariners played a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon but fell short.

Summerfield girls went 2-1 on games at the Lakeview tournament by beating Atlanta and Red River.  The boys weren’t so fortunate running into powerhouse Lakeview and Class 5A Airline.

Not everyone went to a tournament but kept their teams busy for the Thanksgiving break.   Saline and Arcadia made it a boys-only Bienville Parish matchup.  Ringgold split the week with a win over Pleasant Hill and a loss to North Webster.  Castor and Glenbrook met up on an early week game.

Well a little explaining may need to be done. Normally we have a Starting Five and Next Five. For the boys and girls this week we had to expand it to Next 6 as we had ties in stats. Also, the Top Performances are normally only five. Same stats for the boys so they got one extra this week.

More action next week as the teams will get back into action.  The exciting Bienville Parish Tournament will kick off at Castor midweek.
