The LSUS PIlots and Lady Pilots played two Louisiana teams over the past weekend.   Last Thursday, the two teams traveled to Alexandria to face LSU-A Generals and Lady Generals.  Saturday, LSUS returned home to take on Louisiana College Wildcats and Lady Wildcats.    The Pilots split the two games and moved up fifth place in the RRAC Conference.    The Lady Pilots dropped both games and took to losing their last three games.  The Lady Pilots currently sit at a tie for ninth place.   Here are the results from the last games

LSUS Lady Pilots

LSU Alexandria 1, LSU Shreveport 0 (2OT)

The Lady Pilots faced their fourth double-overtime game of the season and are now 0-1-3 in second overtime games.   Goalkeeper Karolyn Hasler was challenged early in the 2nd minute with a shot on target from Sophie Borhi.   LSUS got control and took to their third with a shot from Kristen Nolan in the 11th minute.  Madison Salas got another shot in the 16th minute.   LSUA took the next five shots over the next 16 minutes.   All the shots for the Lady General had to be saved except one by Micah Pond which hit the crossbar.   LSUS got one final shot in the 43rd minute by Gabriela de Jesus which required a save.  The Lady Generals outshot LSUS 6-3 in the first half.  

LSUA started fast in the second half as the Lady Generals fired six shots between the 52nd and 58th minutes.   Hasler had to save three of those shots.  LSUS could not get away from the foul calls as the Lady Pilots were called for four fouls in the first fifteen minutes.   LSUA got two more shots by Keely McLeod and Jordan Thibodeaux.   LSUS took their first shot in the second half at the 73rd minute by Kirsten Nolan which went high.  The Lady Pilots got control in the final 10 minutes.   The Lady Pilots took a corner in the 81st minute.   Ryleigh Smith took a header that went wide in the 82nd minute.  Charlotte Schmidt’s shot had to be saved.  Gabriela Roa got one final shot in regulation that was wide right.   LSUA took one more chance to break the stalemate with a shot with Hannah Carter that was saved by Karolyn Hasler in the final 13 seconds of regulation.  The two headed to overtime.  LSUA dominated the shooting 10-4 in the second half.  

The Lady Generals led the charge in the first overtime as they started with a corner kick.   LSUA’s Hannah Carter took a shot that went wide right.   The referee called a foul on the Lady Pilots in the box giving the Lady Generals a penalty kick.   The Lady General’s Sophie Borhi penalty kick went wide.    The only offense the Lady Pilots opportunity in overtime was a corner kick.   Still, with no score, the two headed to double overtime.  

The two couldn’t get a shot off but were both victims of the offsides flag.  With a little over a minute left in the second overtime,  LSUA’s Carolina Quast hit her first goal of the season with an assist by Brisa Rivera Mondrag

Karolyn Hasler had eight saves for the match.   Kirsten Nolan was the only Lady Pilot to get more than one shot in the match.  Madison Salas, Ryleigh Smith, Gabriela Roa, Charlotte Schmidt, and Gabriela de Jesus each had a shot. 

Louisiana College 2, LSU Shreveport 1

The Lady Pilots welcomed first-place Louisiana College to the swamp on Saturday afternoon.   LSUS struck right at the start in the 4th minute when Ameris Taylor nailed the shot with an assist by Gabriela de Jesus.   The shots would few and far between after the goal for the Lady Pilots.  Karolyn Hassler would earn her pay against the Lady Wildcats.  Two quick saves in the 9th minute followed by two corners in between the 20th and 23rd minutes.  In the closing seconds of the 23rd minute, Louisiana College evened the game at 1-1 with a goal by Martina Terra Garcia and an assist by Lindsey Jacobs.   Alexis Hobbs got another shot for the Lady Pilots which required a save in the 30th minute.   Louisiana College fired a barrage of six shots in the final fifteen minutes.  LSUS’s Chelsea Brown got one final shot in the 41st minute that when high.  The score remained tied at halftime 1-1.  Louisiana College bombarded the Lady Pilots with 10-3 shots.  Karolyn Hassler had 6 saves in the first half.  

If the Lady Pilots thought they bombarded in the first half,  LSUS was in front of a firing squad in the second half.  Louisiana College fired 19 shots and didn’t allow LSUS a single shot in the second half.  Stephanie Doran finally hit the target in the 75th minute.  Karolyn Hasler had six saves in the second half.  Overall the Lady Wildcats outshot LSUS 29-3.  Louisiana College had 11 corners for the game.

LSU Alexandria 2, LSU Shreveport 1

LSUS dropped a road game in Alexandria to the Generals.   LSUS played with a one-man advantage from the 29th minute through the remainder of the match as Pablo Ruiz was given a red card.    LSUS was unable to get past the General’s defense to use the advantage.   LSUA came out with the aggressive playing and the referee whistle tried to control it as they were charged with five fouls in the first fifteen minutes.   The Pilots got off five shots in the first fifteen.  Adam Gonzales shot twice was the only one that had to be saved. Maurice Theart got in two shots.  Arsenios Dimitrious shot was blocked.   LSUA’s O’Neal Edward was given the first yellow card of the match.  James Averies shot went wide near the 17th minute.   LSUS was charged with their first yellow card in the 20th minute to Martin Rassmussen.    LSUA finally hit the back of the net in the 23rd minute with a shot by Austin Madubuike and an assist by Danny Stevens.   LSUS scrapped to get back into the game.  Scott Neil and Maurice Theart took shots that had to be saved in the 23rd and 28th minute, respectively.  LSUA went down to 10-men in the 29th minute as Pablo Ruiz was charged with the red card.   LSUS tried to capitalize on the one-man advantage.  Jake Strachan shot was stopped in the 38th minute.   Theart’s third shot of the half went wide in the 39th minute.   Abdoul Karim Pare shot was saved in the 41st minute.   Theart got closer with his fourth shot as he hit the post.   LSUA survived the remainder of the half up 1-0.   LSUS outshot LSUA 12-2.    LSU Alexandria was charged with 10 fouls in the first half.   

LSUA had to survive the entire second half with only 10 men.  The referee whistle had proven not to be in their favor in the first half.   Despite being shorthanded, LSUA snuck a shot that had to be saved by Louis Owens in the 56th minute.   Adam Gonzales took a shot in the 58th minute that had to have a defensive save by LSUA’s Shaun Spencer.  The referee’s view changed to the pilots.   Back-to-back fouls followed by a yellow card to Tom Cobham in the 61st minute.   Another foul followed by a yellow card to Matt Robers in the 62nd minute.  Though they had the man advantage,  LSUS was still down in the match 1-0.    LSUS made a massive substitution in the 62nd minute bringing on Matt Roberts, Abdoul Karim Pare, Julius Williams, Alex Golder, and James Averies in the 62nd minute.  James Fissi hit the pitch in the 63rd minute.  LSUA brought three new sets of fresh legs in the 65th minute to maintain the lead.   LSUA took a corner in the 66th minute and Edoardo Accornero was given a yellow card.   LSUA got a shorthanded goal in the 66th minute from Keelin Foley with an assist by Julio Moreno to take the 2-0 lead for the Generals.  LSUS tried to close the gap with a header shot that went high by Tom Cobham in the 71st minute.  Julius Williams shot was wide and Pare’s shot had to be saved.  LSUA tried to get another shorthanded goal with a shot by Chaz Badeaux in the 79th minute.  LSUS finally got a goal to close the gap to 2-1 by Julius Williams in the 81st minute.   Jannis Fissi tried to add another won and was saved in the 83rd minute.  Fissi got another shot that went wide a minute later.   More fresh legs by LSUA to protect the win.  Fissi got one final shot in the 89th minute but was stopped by LSUS goalie Valeriu Tarlev.    LSUS slightly outshot LSUA 8-5 in the second half.    

Overall LSUS outshot LSUA 20-7.   The aggressive game saw LSUA hit with 15 fouls and LSUS charged with 10.    Each team received four yellow cards and LSUA received one red card. 

Maurice Theart led the Pilots with 5 shots.  Adam Gonzales and Jannis Fissi each took advantage of 3 shots.   Julius Williams and Abdoul Karim Pare each shot twice.  

LSU Shreveport 5, Louisiana College 1

The Pilots returned to The Swamp and defeated the Wildcats 5-1 on Saturday afternoon.    LSUS came out firing shots as they took six shots in the first 10 minutes.   Adam Gonzales and Gledi Doda’s shot had to be stopped by Wildcat goalkeeper Martin Hernandez.  The Pilots continued to control the ball on their third with three corners and a couple of shots by Gonzales.  Louisiana College snuck in a couple of shots that had to be stopped by LSUS goalkeeper Max Rose.   Though LSUS had been controlling the ball, Louisiana College was the first to score with a goal by Jacob Bruce in the 26th minute.  The Pilots got an opportunity with a penalty kick in the 27th minute.  Hugo Juliao’s penalty shot was saved.    The Pilots took multiple shots in between the 28th minute and 36th minute.   Fissi shot was blocked in the 32nd minute.  Martin Rassmussen’s shot went wide in the 33rd minute.   Julius Williams’s shot went wide in the 34th minute.  Williams found gold with his fifth goal of the season two minutes later as he scored with assists by Maurice Theart and Jannis Fissi.  Goalkeeper Max Rose stopped the shot by Nangee Philip in the 37th minute.   The Pilot scored again in the 38th minute when Abdoul Karim Pare scored his sixth goal of the season and gave the Pilots the 2-1 lead.  Arsenios Dimitrious, Jannis Fissi, and Pare took three more shots before the half.  LSUS took a  2-1 lead into halftime.   LSUS outshot the Wildcats 17-7 in the first half.  LSUS also had 6 corner opportunities in the first half.  

LSUS made sure they weren’t giving up the game early in the second half.   Maurice Theart hit the back of the net in the 52nd minute with an assist by Abdoul Karim Pare.   Louisiana College took a couple of shots right after the goal by Jason Rodriguez and Jorge Duran.    LSUS took control again keeping the ball on their third.  Julius Williams took a wide shot in the 56th minute.   The Pilots were awarded a corner in the 58th minute.   Williams took another on-target shot in the 65th minute that had to be stopped by the Wildcats.   Jannis Fissi took his opportunity in the 75th minute that was saved.  Guilherme Pereira took his chance at a score in the 79th minute.   Gleidi Doda took a wide shot in the 80th minute.   Pay dirt was finally hit in the 82nd minute by Abdoul Karim Pare to get his second goal of the game and a 4-1 lead for the Pilots.  Karim Pare completed his hat trick in the 85th minute as he scored with assists by Rhys McCallister and Alex Golder.   LSUS held on for the 5-1 win.  LSUS outshot Louisiana College 13-4 in the second half and 30-11 for the whole game.  Max Rose was credited with 4 saves.  

The Pilots will get two games in the upcoming weekend.  Thursday they will host No. 11 Georgia Gwinnett College (7-2-1) and Saturday they will travel to Tyler, Texas to take on Texas College (1-8-0, 1-4-0).  The Lady Pilots will accompany the Pilots to the Lone Star state Saturday to take Tyler College (0-6-0, 0-5-0).
