The LSUS soccer programs continue to put numbers in the win column.  The women’s program took a 1-0 win over LeTourneau for their new head coach.   The men took care of business of another ranked team at their first match at The Swamp.  

LSUS Lady Pilots 1, LeTourneau Lady Jackets 0

The LSUS Lady Pilots started a new era under new head coach Dejan Milosevic with a 1-0 win on Saturday in Longview, Texas against LeTourneau University.  Milosevic comes to Shreveport following being the associate coach for the Men’s soccer team at Texas Wesleyan.  The Lady Pilots pounded 27 shots to the Lady Yellow Jackets 1 shot.  Kirsten Nolan had the most shots with five.   LSUS goalkeeper Carlotta Alcalade received the clean sheet and zero saves.  

The lone goal came just 10 minutes into the match as Aimee Dillworth found Melike Dincell for a shot to the back of the net.

In an interview after the game with LSUS Athletics, Coach Milosevic said of the win.  “We played decent for our first official game this season,”  Milosevic said.  “We outshot the opponent 27-1. So on that hand, I am very happy, but we need to finish better.  I am happy that we got a win in my first official game for LSUS!  Thank you to the ladies for that.  I am excited for the future of his team.  Now on to the next.”

The Lady Pilots will have their first home match on Wednesday, August 31 against Southwestern Christian University at 3:00 pm. 

LSUS Pilots 3, Lyon College Scots 0

The Pilots proved again that a number in front of the school name is not intimidating to them.   LSUS manhandled the #22 Lyon College 3-0 at the Swamp. 

LSUS outshot the Scots 17-8 and 8-3 on shots on goal.   

Neither team could get an advantage in the first half as the two were scoreless at halftime.  LSUS did outshoot 8-2 in the first half.  

The second half was a different story as Alex Charles struck first with a goal assisted by James Averies in the 65th minute.   Maurice Theart nailed the second goal in the 78th minute to take the 2-0 lead.  Alex Golder and Bernardo Pacheco were granted the assists.  Mohamed Jammeh headed in the third goal in the 81st minute.  

Coach Philip Bohn told LSUS Athletic webpage following the match.  “Good team win today against a Top 25 opponent.  We allowed our depth to shine and I believe it paid off as multiple boys came on to help us keep a good standard and slowly wear on our opponent.  Goals were hard to come by early but this group believes in each other and sticks to the plan.  Good to be rewarded for their spirit once again. “

The Pilots will take on their third-ranked opponent of the season on the road in Lawrenceville, Georgia in the #23 Georgia-Gwinnett College (3-0-1) on Saturday, September 3
