The road to the LHSAA Powerlifting State Championship started this past weekend for the lady powerlifters around the area.   The North Regional Meet was held at Ruston High School while the Central Regional Meet was held at Tioga High School.  All regional meets are held on the same day.   The top 10 combined throughout the state will qualify for the Powerlifting State Championships held at the Lafayette CajunDome on March 23. 

North Regional Meet Results

The Cedar Creek Lady Cougars gave the West Monroe Lady Rebels a run for their money on a regional title and finished as North Regional runner-up.    The Lady Cougars were edged out 59-53 for the title.   Cedar Creek reached the podium with nine powerlifters claiming three titles.  Ashlyn Bourne took the crown for the 181 class winning by 85 lbs lifting a total of 925 (355-squat, 205-bench, 365-deadlift).  Bourne was the top lifter in the state in Division V for the 181 class.  She had the top weight by over 125 lbs in the class.   The Lady Cougars took a couple of 1-2 punches in a couple of classes.   Madelyn Carroll claimed the 123 class title by just 10 lbs over fellow Lady Cougar Emma Moore.   Carroll lifted 755 lbs (305-S, 135-B, 315-D) while Moore lifted 745 lbs (290-S, 155-B, 300-D).   Carroll will have some competition at the state as she was the top lifter in the state but only by 5 lbs as Reaevah Craddok from Holden lifted 750 in her regional.   Lauren Enterkin grabbed the 165 crown decisively lifting 915 lbs (370-S, 210-B, 335-D).  Her closest competitor was fellow Cedar Creek lifter Olivia Salter with 795 lbs (295-S, 175-B, 325-D).  Enterkin and Salter finished 1-2 at the state level in Division V.    Paisley Hamby finished regional runner-up in the 114 class.  Hamby lifted 615 lbs (225-S, 130-B, 260-D).   Hamby finished third overall in the state qualifiers in Division V 114 class.   Peyton Muse also finished as regional runner-up in the 132 class.   Muse lifted 785 lbs (285-S, 180-B, 320-D).   Muse will also have her hands full as just 5lbs behind her was the East Region Champ Victoria Alder from Slaughter Community Charter.   Ainsley Riley came in second for the Lady Cougars in the 148 class.   Riley is the top in Division V for the 148 class by 60 lbs.  Alli Claire Johnson took home third place for Cedar Creek in the 97 weight class.   Johnson is also the top in Division V for the 97 state competition.   Avery Bourne also qualified for the state championships in the SHW weight class. 

Calvary girls finished tied for sixth in the regional competition with 13 points.  The Lady Cavaliers made three appearances on the podium.  Emma Lazarus continued her family legacy of powerlifting with a second-place finish in the 105 weigh class.  The junior was edged out by West Monroe’s Caroline Joslin by 5 lbs.  Lazarus lifted 615 lbs (245-S, 105-B, 265-D).   Lazarus is currently the lead lifter in Division IV by 50 lbs over her nearest competition.  Sophomore Breanne Jones finished third in the 123 weight class lifting 675 lbs (245-S, 155-B, 275-D).  Jones also looks to be on track for a state title as she leads the Division IV 123 weight class by 75 lbs.  Mireya Roberson also took bronze in the SHW class.  Roberson is currently second in the Division IV SHW class.   Other Lady Cavalier qualifiers for the state are Cantley Mulford (114), Kaitlyn Veals (114), Endly Chism (123), Addisyn Tracy (132), Bailey Tibbett (148), Rylee Semon (165), and Adalyn Lacaze (198). 

The Lakeside Lady Warriors snagged a regional silver medal from Trinity Easom in the SHW class.  Easom lifted 1,010 lbs (380-S, 250-B, 380-D).   Easom just so happened to finish second to the lifter, Karson Oliver of West Monroe, who lifted the most weight in all the competition.  Easom is currently the leading lifter in the Division IV SHW class.  Her closes competition is Calvary’s Mireya Roberson who finished with 80 lbs less.   Other state qualifiers for Lakeside are Madison Miller (220, top in state in Division IV), Ashlyn Ricketson (198), and Krystal Cornelious (181).

Haynesville’s Alexia Oglee-Nail took a third-place medal back to Claiborne Parish in the 198 class.  Oglee-Nail lifted 715 lbs (255-S, 145-B, 315-D) and is second in the state.   Other qualifiers from Haynesville are Wesley Johnson (114), Tessa Haynes (132), Ashley Ogden (132), Zaelayasia Johnson (165), Haivein Thomas (181), Azaria Johnson (181), Harmony Faz (220), Lillie Vines (220), and Jameaka Hicks (SHW).  

Castor Lady Tigers Powerlifting will send four lifters to the state championships in March.   The qualified lifters are Jaycee Freeman (97),  Mazzy Sullivan (114),  Anaiah Johnson (SHW), and Stormy Watson (SHW).

Ringgold will send one to the state championships in March.  Zyon Bell qualified in the 220 class. 

Central Regional Meet Results

Powerhouse Alexandria grabbed the Girls’ Central Regional Meet edging out Pineville.  

Many Lady Tigers’ only points came from a fifth-place finish in the 165 class from Summer Paddie.   Summer finished second overall in the combined results for Division IV.  Many Lady Tiger qualifiers for the state are Serenity Broadway (123), Lauren Isgitt (148), and Sontee Jones (220).

Lakeview Lady Gators will send Jennifer Williams (105), Ariel Joseph (198), and Sammya Rachal (220) to Lafayette in March.
