The LHSAA released the boys’ basketball brackets on Monday afternoon.  Six local teams received first round byes inclusing Winnfield, Calvary Baptist, Lincoln Prep, St. Mary’s, Zwolle, and Gibsland-Coleman.  More local teams will be on the road in the first playoffs 14-12.  

Only Division V will local teams taking on each other.  Negreet will be traveling to Doyline.  Florien will have to head to Choudrant.  Calvin will take on Stanley.  Quitman and Saline will meet for the fourth time this season.  Quitman has won 2 of the 3 games this season.  

Three teams will have to travel more than 200 miles for a road trip.  The third longest trip goes to Magnolia School of Excellence in Shreveport traveling 235 miles to Abbeville to Vermilion Catholic.  Second longest trip also goes to the only matchup that sounds like an NBA games as Atlanta will travel 289 miles to Phoenix.  The longest trip can only be done by the Giants, the Green Oaks Giants in Shreveport going to Slidell to face Pope John Paul II.
