The LHSAA boys basketball playoffs were released on Monday afternoon. In Divisions III through IV, the first-round action might be a little light because eight local Northwest Louisiana teams received first-round byes. Winnfield, Lakeview, Ringgold, Zwolle, Negreet, Calvary, Lincoln Prep, and St. Mary’s all will get a rest for a few days awaiting their second-round opponent.
Nine teams will get to compete on their home courts in the first round.
Three matchups in Division V will have local teams face each other. Castor will travel to Doyline in the first round. This one will add a special twist as the Tiger stole away a district win from Doyline. Doyline got their revenge later in the district. Winner-take-all all will happen now with a road to the state championship on the line. A local Class C v B will occur between Gibsland-Coleman and Weston. A battle between two district champs will occur between Calvin and Ebarb.
The longest road trip of any of our local teams will be Logansport who will have to travel 376 miles from near the top of the state to near the coast to face South Plaquemines.
