The Arcadia Hornets and Calvary Cavaliers are headed to Marsh Madness. The Hornets will get a semifinal match-up with defending state champions No. 1 seeded North Central Hurricanes on Wednesday at noon in Lake Charles at Burton Coliseum.  Calvary will face the No. 2 seeded Riverside Academy Rebels from Reserve in the Division IV semifinal on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 In Lafayette at the Cajun Dome.  Here are the scores from the quarterfinal action

Class A

No. 4 Arcadia 57, No. 5 Oak Grove 35

The Arcadia Hornets are returning to Marsh Madness for the first time since their title run in 2016.   Demarrion  Richardson led Arcadia with 15 points.  Khyrese Taylor finished with 14 to advance the Hornets to the semifinals

No. 7 Northwood-Lena 66, No. 15 Ringgold 64 OT

The Ringgold Redskin’s Cinderella story needed a little longer than midnight as they fell to the Northwood-Lena Gators 66-64 down south.   Keesean Johnson scored all the overtime points and finished with 21.  Teravion Weather contributed 16. Jbari Adams added 12 for the Redskins.

Division IV

No. 3 Calvary 57, No. 6 Central Catholic 56

The Cavaliers didn’t get to participate in Marsh Madness at Burton Coliseum last as the select division opted to play home games for the semifinals and championship.  They will this year as they reached the semifinals with a 57-56 win over the Morgan City-based Eagles.  Labree Williams was the top scorer with 16 points and 8 rebounds.  Will Bagley pushed the Cavaliers with 15 points.  Daniel Ortiz had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. 

Class B 

No. 5 J. S. Clark 83, No. 4 Doyline 57

The Panthers bid to repeat as state champions came to an end as the Opelousas-based Bulldogs advanced to Marsh Madness with the 83-57 win.  The loss also breaks Doyline’s 45-game, 478-day winning streak.  Jamaria “Juicy” Clark and Jamari Markray each finished with 22 points.  Don’t cry for the Panthers, they have four starters returning for next year. 

Class C

No. 4 Hornbeck 76, No. 5 Gibsland-Coleman Bulldogs 55

The end of the road came for the Bulldogs in Vernon Parish on Friday night with a 76-55 loss.   Terrance James had a 26 point night including a 14 point second quarter.
