The North Louisiana powerlifting regionals took place at Ruston High School last Saturday.   This meet along with the other regional meets throughout the state are the qualifiers for the LHSAA State Powerlifting Championships in Monroe on March 18.   The regional meet contains all classifications from Division I to Division V competing.   

Calvary Cavaliers claimed eight medals including Audrey Mayo award for Girls’ Outstanding Lifter Light Platform.  Mayo did a 275 squat, 145 bench, and 295 dead lift.  Skylar Odom grabbed second behind Mayo and also claimed the 132-weight class crown.  Roderick Harris grabbed the prize for the 132-weight class for the boys and finished fourth in Boys’ Outstanding Lifter Light Platform.  Harris had a squat weight of 355, bench of 220, and deadlift of 425 for a total weight of 1000 lbs.  Hannah Guerrero captured second place in the 165 class and fourth overall in the Girls’ Outstanding Heavy Platform.   Other second-place finishers for the Lady Cavs were Emma Grace Logan (97) and Pamela Lee (114).  Jordan Wallace took third in the 148 class and finished fifth in the Outstanding Lifter Light Platform.  Calvary had 13 other lifters finish in the Top 10 in their weight classes.  Seneca Lee finished fourth in 148  class and ninth in the Outstanding Lifter Light platform.  Other top ten Lady Cavaliers included Cantley Mulford (5th, 105), Breanne Jones (4th, 114), Bailey Barber (8th, 123), Chloe Kalmbach (4th, 148), and Mireya Roberson (6th, 198).  The Cavalier boys who finished also in the top 10 of their divisions included Jackson Windham (6th, 165), Dalton Lang (9th, 165), Joseph Wilson (4th, 198), Landon Mayeaux (8th, 220), Jordan Byrd (5th, 242), Parker Malone (4th, 275), and Johnathan Elie (6th, SHW).

Haynesville Lady Tors had five places in the top 10 in regional meet which included Courtney Ogden (7th, 105), Natalie Moseley (10th, 123), Alexia Oglee (9th, 198), Lanaya Montgomery (10th, 220), and Shontellas Shine (5th, SHW)

The Johnson sisters from Castor represented the Lady Tigers in the Top 10.  Zakiya Johnson finished sixth in the 220 division.  Anaiah Johnson finished seventh in the SHW division.  

Ringgold’s Tyrin Cunningham had a strong top ten performance for seventh in the 181 weight class.  When breaking out the Division V qualifiers Cunningham was the top lifter out of all A-B-C schools for the 181 weight class. 

Once all regionals across the state were completed, each result was broken into their school divisions.  Class A, B, and C all are in Division V.  The top ten from in their division across the state qualify for the state meet in Monroe.  All above-listed lifters have qualified for the state meet.  The following other boys lifters qualified for state: Dustin Lang (Calvary, 182), Wayne Mangham (Castor, 220), and Robert Ramos (Castor, 275).  The following girl lifters also qualified: Kaely Jackson (Haynesville, 132), Hannah Johnson (Castor, 132), Ashley Ogden (Haynesville, 148), Zalayasia Johnson (Haynesville, 165), Halvein Thomas (Haynesville, 181), Bailee Taylor (Haynesville, 198), Madeline Boyer (Castor, 220), and Faith Watts (Haynesville, SHW).  

Calvary led with 22 lifters qualified for state.  Haynesville Lady Tors had 11 qualify for state.  Castor qualified two boys and four girls.  Ringgold had one qualifier for the state.

The LHSAA boys meet for Division V will be Thursday, March 18.  The LHSAA girls meet will be Friday, March 19.
