The last week of the volleyball season will wind up this week and the second season will be announced next Monday, October 30. Let’s take a look if your team will end this week or try for a trip to the Cajun Dome in Lafayette. A team must make it to the quarterfinals to head south to the state tourney
Calvary (18-4) is the only local team in North Louisiana to ever reach the state tournament and looking to make a third consecutive trip to the state tournament. Coach John Casey who achieved his 100th win this season has his Lady Cavs right where he wants them. They currently sit at No. 3 which would mean back-to-back home games in the first two rounds of the playoffs. The Lady Cavaliers have not lost a set at home this season.
Many (12-9) is sitting at No. 11 which could mean a first-round home match but could mean a road second-round in the playoffs in Division IV.
Loyola (8-19) is fighting for a home first-round playoff matchup currently at No. 15. To their advantage they have a minimum of 20 matches covered. If they get past the first round, they will be on the road to the second round.
North Caddo (11-14), Red River (4-17), and Mansfield (7-11) will have a road challenge. Mansfield is the only team that has not made the 20-game minimum.
Green Oaks (0-8) will not qualify for the playoffs in their first year as a varsity squad. In
Division V, newcomers St. Mary’s (5-3) might be edged out of a playoff chance of not having enough matches for the season. All top 32 teams have the 20-game minimum. Magnolia SOE (0-5) will finish the season this week.
The season will end on Saturday with playoffs starting next week.
