UTRNWLA Week 6 High School Softball Report

It was a Hot 9 week in Lincoln Parish as four of the nine slots were held by Lincoln Parish schools.  Simsboro clamped down on two slots as Choudrant and Cedar Creek each grabbed a spot.  Carlei Wheeler from Simsboro continues to make week-to-week appearances on the top players’ report.  Jacoya Lewis helped the Simsboro Tigers to a 3-1 week with her two triples home run and 8 RBIs.  Cedar Creek’s Allie Furr had the most at-bats of any player for the week with 20 but included a triple, home run, and 6 RBIs.  Choudrant’s Zoey Smith moved up from last week’s Next 9 to the Hot 9 list. 

The Glenbrook Lady Apaches claimed the most with five in the four lists.  Vivian Still makes it in the top 18 players in the Hot 9 and Next 9.  After two consecutive weeks of making the Next 9, Still jumped up into the Hot 9.  Rebecca Mosley double-dipped into the hitting and pitching lists.  Mosley reached the Next 9 list for hitting and Top 3 pitching rotation.   Sara 

Calvary also made its mark in Week 6.  DJ Lynch had a phenomenal week banging five homers over the week and capturing the most RBIs and homers for the week.  Carlie Guile also had a variety of hits including a double, triple, and home run along with 8 RBIs.  Tavia Leadon landed on the Next 9 list.   Pitching superstar Kynzee Anderson leads the state in strikeouts and reached the Next 3 list for the week.  

Florien’s Sara McDaniels continues to be a pitching prowess, making the top 6 pitching performances once for back-to-back weeks.   McDaniels was in the Next 3 last week with 24 ⅓ innings pitched and 19 Ks giving her an ERA of 1.71 and a WHIP of 1.01.  This week McDaniels wasn’t as heavy, but just as impactful pitching a one-hitter for the week.  

Quitman’s Cali Deal has made sure that she has been a staple on the four top performances list for the weekly report.  Deal started with her pitching power making the Week 2 and 3 Top 3.   In week 4 she switched over to the hitting list making the Next 9.  That should be enough, right?  Wrong…In week 5 she pushed herself on both the Hot 9 hitting list and the Top 3 pitching rotation.  Week 6 sees her making the Next 9 list once again.  She has made five of the six lists and the only reason it is not six of six is that Quitman did not play a game in the first week.  Look out for this one…
