The final step before the LHSAA State Track and Field Championships is the regional meets around the area.  An athlete must place in the top three to qualify for the state meet.  The fourth place can be used as an alternate for the region.   

Class A – Region 1 (Ouachita Christian)  (April 24)

Boys – Ouachita Christian 145, St. Frederick 77

Girls – Ouachita Christian 182, Delhi Charter 72

The Region 1 Class 1A regional track meet was held in Monroe at Ouachita Christian.  The host school won both the boys’ and girls team competition handily.  St. Frederick finished as regional runner-up for boys.  Delhi Charter claimed runner-up for the girls team competition.  

Haynesville reached the podium ten times for the boys and the girls.  ZaNaiya Kingsby took three medals home for the Golden Tornado girls team.  Kingsby finished third in the 200 and was part of the second place 4 x 200 and third place 4 x 100 relay teams.  Other members of the 4 x 200 team were Zyariah Mosi, Tremaya Curry, and Layla Tell.  Other members of the 4 x 100 relay team were Tremarya Curry, Kahlia Washington, and Yesenia Meadors.  Tell finished second in the high jump while Washington finished third.  Kamarion Penegar and Alonzo Jackson were part of the runner-up 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relay teams.   Other members of the 4 x 100 relay team was J’Karius Turner and Keizavion Woods.  Other members of the 4 x 200 relay team were Jayden Green and DaMondra Martin.  Toby Franklin finished as regional runner-up in the shot put.  Nakel Gill tossed the javelin for a third place finish.  Isaiah Washington completed the 300 hurdles in third.  

Cedar Creek will be sending eight competitors to the state championships.   Annie Jones took the lone regional title for the Lady Cougars winning the javelin (125-5).  Jones was also part of the second place 4 x 400 squad.  Other members of the 4 x 400 relay team were Caroline James, Madison Morris, and Lindsay Osafo.  James also finished runner-up in the 1600.  Morris was second in the 800.  Ashlyn Bourn tossed the discus for a third place finish.  Myles Carpenter-Head was a two time regional champ winning the 1600 (4:53.40) and 3200 (10:53.54).  Cole Morganthall also claimed a regional championship in the pole vault (9-6).  John Abram Earle finished third in the 800.  

The Plain Dealing Lady Lions made some noise at the regional competition finishing third in the team competition.  The 4 x 100 (52.18) and 4 x 200 (1:49.71) relay squads claimed regional championships.  Members of both teams were A’Quireal Black, Aj’sia Debose, Javaria Gilliam, and Kianna Newton.  Debose also placed second in the 200 and third in the 100 dash.  Brianna Newton also won the discus (104-9) title and finished third in the shot put.  

St. Mary’s track squads will send four to LSU to compete at State.  Addison Ivey finished third in the 100 hurdles. Tyonnah Burton had a third place finish in the javelin.  Ben Bienvenu qualified for state with a third place finish in the shot put.  Freshman Chalin Gandy finished third in the pole vault. 

Logansport’s Jamarcus Jones put on a show for the Monroe crowd.  Jones won two regional titles in the 100 (10.80) and 200 (21.83).  Jones was also part of the runner-up 4 x 400 relay team.  Other members of the 4 x 400 were D’War’tez Chatman, Omarius Colbert, and Jakerrion Wilson.  

Lincoln Prep Panthers qualified two for state.  Shedreana Green was second in the shot put.  Cenario Wilson finished third in the high jump. 

Glenbrook’s Vivian Still will be the lone Lady Apache at state finishing third in the 800.  

Arcadia Lady Hornets will be sending JaKiyra Cockerham to Baton Rouge with a third place finish in the 300 hurdles.  

Homer Pelicans will be sending a relay squad to state.  The Pelicans 4 x 200 relay team were regional runner-ups.  Member of the 4 x 200 were Gregory Williams, Jarek Shelton, Spencer Dunn, and Katrevick Banks.

Class 2A (Mansfield) (April 26)

Mansfield claimed the boys team title with 92 points.  Rosepine took the girls regional title with 106 points.  Holy Savior Menard out of Alexandria was runner-up in both boys and girls teams. 

Mansfield headed to the podium 16 times during the regional competition.  The Lady Wolverines 4 x 100 (50.02) and 4 x 200 (1:47.66) regional champs.   Kaitlyn McDaniel also claimed a regional title in the discus (110-5).  La’TyKeunna Sick finished runner-up in both the 100 and 200.  The Wolverine 4 x 200 relay team (1:29.04) won the regional title.  The 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 teams were runner-up.  Jaden Youngblood took two individual regional titles in the 110 hurdles (14.67) and 300 hurdles (38.90).  Nick Davis won the 400 (49.24) and was runner-up in the 200.  Isaac Jenkins was regional runner-up in the 400 and long jump.  Nick Bailey finished second in the high jump.  

Loyola girls scored two medals at the regional competition.  The 4 x 800 relay team finished second.   Emily Anderson finished third in the 800.   Franklin Roemer got the Flyers lone gold medal winning the 3200 (10:10.46)li. Hayden DeBroeck qualified for state with a fourth place finish in pole vault.   Roemer also finished third in the 800 and 1600.  Reese Armagost was second in the pole vault.  Collin Tran qualified for state with a third place finish in the 110 hurdles.  Cooper DeFatta took third place in the javelin.

Many Lady Tigers will be sending two regional runner-ups to Baton Rouge for state meet.  Denasia Holden was second in the high jump.  Emily Miller was runner-up in the javelin ppl plpo.  Joseph Yount claimed a regional title for the Tigers in the javelin (147-5).  Isaac Sweet was second l the 300 hurdles and third in the long jump I’ll l.   

Ciara Gray will be representing Jonesboro-Hodge Lady Tigers at the LHSAA Track and Field Championship.  Gray was second in the triple jump and third in the 300 hurdles.  Savantez Phillips will compete in the two hurdle events at state.  Phillip finished second in the 110 hurdles and third in the 300 hurdles.  Zion Gray finished third in the triple jump.  

Jackson Burney burned up the track in the 800 (1:57.14) and 1600 (4:32.66).  Calvary won a third regional title with their 4 x 400 relay team.    

Lakeside’s Connor Wood gave the Warriors a regional title in the discus (129-9).  Two long run Lady Warriors will head to Baton Rouge.  Lexi Bradley finished third in the 1600.  Madison McGraw was third in the 3200.  

Lakeview’s Trinity Browder won shot put (37-7.5).  Dillon Pikes finished runner-up in the triple jump.  

Green Oaks will be sending their 4 x 100 relay team to state after a runner-up finish at regionals. 

Manuel Espejel will be representing Winnfield at state after his second place finish in the discus at regionals. 

Red River Bulldogs will send Leonard Mosley to compete in the shot put after his regional runner-up performance. 

North Caddo’s 4 x 100 boys relay team finished third and will be heading to Baton Rouge. 

Class B (Quitman) (April 25)

The host Quitman Lady Wolverines edged out Simsboro 101-96 to claim the Region 1 girls championship.  The Castor Tigers claimed the region championship, holding off Simsboro 105-99.5 for the boys. 

Although finishing runner-up in both team competitions, Simsboro made the podium the most of all teams with 21 appearances.   Lauryn Vernon qualified in all four of her events winning the long jump (15-9.25) and as part of the 4 x 100 relay (53.39) team.  Vernon also finished second in the 200 and triple jump.  Other members of the 4 x 100 team were Jahkeria Abney, Nuna Rollins, and Curniya Deloney.  Rollins and Abney were also part of the third place 4 x 200 team.  Abney finished third in the long jump.  Other members of the 4 x 200 were Jamaya Curry and Cheyenne Deloney.  Curry also finished third in the 100 hurdles.  Queen of the hurdles Ikeia Brown won both 100 hurdles (15.84) and 300 hurdles (48.71).  Brown also finished third in the 100.  Bella Coon finished third in the 400.  Vashanti Sproul qualified for state with a third place performance in shot put.   Jalen Outley was declared the regional champ in three events.  Outley won the 200 (24.22) and was part of the 4 x 100 (46.31) and 4 x 400 (3:47.53) relay teams.  Outley was also part of the regional runner-up 4 x 200 team.  Other members of the 4 x 100 teams were Kendric Craig, Jalen Beard, and Dillon Kitchens.  Other members of the 4 x 200 relay team were Craig, Kitchens, and Itavus Brown.  Other members of the 4 x 400 were Craig, Tristan Deloney, and Itavus Brown.  Kendric Craig claimed a regional runner-up in the 100 dash.  Deloney also took second place in the 1600 run.  Gary Harris won the discus (128-11) competition.  Trent Buggs finished runner-up in the 300 hurdles.  Valley Reppo was third in the 800.

Castor girls had a couple of 1-2 punches in the regional competitions.  Anna Kate Myers won the pole vault (9-0) with Jenna Braggs finishing second.   Ambree Collinsworth won the javelin (116-01) and Kailey Ann Shirley was second.  Melayah Rogers claimed two regional medals with runner-ups in the shot put and discus.  Anna Jones finished third in the 3200.  The Castor Tigers won six regional events.  Jamarion Clark won both the high jump (6-2) and triple jump (41-1).  The Castor 4 x 200 relay team (1:37.18) won the regional title.  Members of the 4 x 200 team were Gage Jordan, Brenden Cox, Austin Cooper, and Antwon Bolyer. Johnathan Warren claimed the regional title in the javelin (132-9).  DeAndre Clark won the long jump (19-11) along with a third place in the 300 hurdles.  Seth Pickett won the 400 (54.54) and finished third in the pole vault.  Brenden Cox was also a runner-up in the pole vault.  Austin Cooper was second in the triple jump.  Dawson Wood placed second in the shot put. 

Quitman’s Emma Carter claimed the only regional crown for the Lady Wolverines winning the high jump (4-11).  Kaleigh King won three medals for Quitman placing runner-up in the 100 hurdle and 300 hurdles and finishing third in the pole vault.  The 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relay teams also finished as runner-ups.  The members of both teams were Neysha Johnson, Maddie Grace Giddens, Bethany Leach, and Emayshia Wiley.  Kinley Walker finished second in the 800.  Lily Kate Odom placed third in the triple jump.  AJ Gray finished third in the discus. Nathan Harvey brought three medals back to Jackson Parish.   Harvey won the 100 hurdles (17.07) and 300 hurdles (43.25).  Harvey was also part of the third place 4 x 200 team.  Other members of the 4 x 200 were Geoffrey Maxwell, Jayden Harts, and Brayden Smith.  Gage Horton claimed two medals winning the 3200 (11:31.50) and finishing third in the 1600.  Taylor Huddleston won the 1600 (5:04.63).  Bryan Lay took top honors in the pole vault (13-0).  Sebastian Guin was regional champ in the shot put (44-4.5).  

Converse’s Abigail Bozeman claimed two regional crowns winning both the 1600 (5:51.83) and 3200 (13:25.98).  Finishing second in the 1600 was Irene Dobbs and finishing second in the 3200 was Ava Averit.  The Lady Wildcat 4 x 400 relay completed the race in second place.  Members of the 4 x 400 team were Bailey Rutherford, Gracie Garcie, Sienna Laroux, and Preslye Rivers.  Jayden Reynolds took three medals for the Wildcat boys team.  Reynolds finished third in the 400 and second in each the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relay teams.  Other members of the 4 x 100 team were Camden Callender, Chezny Reed, and Auldyn Sepulvado.  Reynold and Sepulvado were also part of the 4 x 200 team including Johnnie Rhodes and Clayton Rivers.  Rhodes also had a regional runner-up in the 400.  Logan Carter finished second in the 3200 while Jacob Fager placed third.  

Lexie Millien gave the Lady Wolves three medals including a runner-up in the long jump and won as part of the 4 x 200 relay team (1:54.72) and placed third with the 4 x 100 relay team.  Other members of the regional champion 4 x 200 and 4 x 100 relay team were Ronneica Kimble, Carlynn Water, and Keely Davis.  Davis also placed third in the 300 hurdles.  Jalexia Claridy claimed two regional championships in the shot put (32-2.5) and discus (82-7.5).   Darin Allen finished as runner-up in the javelin.   Jaydon Simmons was third in the 110 hurdles.  Sterling Stroud placed third in the long jump.  

Choudrant Lady Aggies will be sending two to Baton Rouge.  Kamryn Rhodes finished third in the 1600.  Reese Brown was third in the high jump.   Jailan Parker grabbed the only Aggie regional gold in the 100 (11.02).  Trevor Trevillion was second in the discus while Payton Doss finished third.  Connor Thompson was runner-up in the 110 hurdles.  Layne Frasier claimed third place in the 200.  Jadon Newton finished third in the shot put. 

Doyline’s Izayla Harris had another perfect day performance going four for four in the regional championships.   Harris won the 100 (11.66), 200 (25.45), 400 (59.60), and triple jump (35-3).  Takerria Washington claimed the regional title in the 800 (2:46.16).  On the boys side, Noah Spears finished second in the high jump.  Caysten Mingo was third in the javelin. 

Zwolle’s Draven Meshell took three medals back to Sabine Parish. Meshell finished third in the high jump, triple jump, and as part of the 4 x 100 relay team.  Other members of the 4 x 100 team were Alec Williams, Howard Etheridge, and Preston Sanders.   Williams claimed the only gold for the Hawk winning the 800 (2:16.23).  Sanders also was a regional runner-up in the long jump.  

Negreet will be sending three to the LHSAA State Championships.  Ava Brown finished as runner-up in the 400 run.  Allie Payne was third in the javelin.  Luke Edison will represent the Negreet boys in the 800 at state with him finishing second at regionals. 

Florien’s Lehr Turner was a multiple medal winner, completing the 100 in second and as part of the third-place 4 x 400 team.  Other members of the 4 x 400 were Adyson Hall, Lily Sparks, and Nevaeh Williams.  Ady Benette finished third in the 800.  

Class C Region 1 (Gibsland-Coleman) 

Gibsland-Coleman girls let Summerfield a little too close as the Lady Bulldogs won the regional 149-127.  The Bulldog boys track team won with 186.5 points as Saline was second in the regional team contest. 

Gibsland-Coleman made 33 appearances to the Class C Region 1 meet podium.  Samora Sampson claimed three regional titles in the long jump (15-9.5) and triple jump (34-2.5) and as part of the 4 x 100 relay team (55.23).  Sampson also had a runner up in the 100 hurdles.  Other members of the 4 x 100 team were Ca’Riya Lewis, Baleigh Haulcy, and Shamaria Durham.  Lewis also had a runner up in the 200 and was on the runner-up 4 x 200 relay team.  Other members of the 4 x 200 relay team were Arianna Williams, Baleigh Haulcy, and Don’Shayla Rushing.  Haulcy also had an individual medal for finishing second in the triple jump.  Arianna Williams finished second in the 300 hurdles. Rushing was also a part of the runner-up 4 x 400 relay team.  Other members of the 4 x 400 were Taraji Allen, Jordan Allen, and Aerial Jenkins.  Jordan Allen dominated the hurdle competition winning the 100 hurdles (18.62) and 300 hurdles (52.34).  Taraji Allen had third place finishes in the 800 and 1600.  Jennifer Smith claimed a regional runner-up in the discus.  Bulldog Demarquis Durham had a perfect day going gold four for four.  Demarquis Durham won the 100 (11.33), 200 (23.53), and as part of the first place 4 x 100 (45.83) and part of the first place 4 x 200 (1:36.43).  Other members of the 4 x 100 relay team were Deavery Durham, Devery Moore, Jr. , and Carlos Rudolph.  Other members of the 4 x 200 team were Deavery Durham, Carlos Rudolph, and Dadrail Chatman.  Deavery Durham also had individual medals finishing second in the 100 and 200.   Dadrail Chatman was also part of the winning 4 x 400 relay team (3:52.99).  Other members of the 4 x 400 relay team were Terrance James, Joshua Adams, and Ricatavious Harris.  James took two titles in the 400 (57.00) and high jump (6-5).  Joshua Adams finished as runner-up in the 400.  Rictavious Harris won the 1600 (5:13.95) and was runner-up in the 800.  Michael Woodford gained four medals winning the 300 hurdles (50.11), long jump (19-6.5), and triple jump (40-2).  Woodford was also runner-up in the 110 hurdles. Brian Wright finished regional runner-up in the triple jump.  Jaylin Croney finished third in the discus. 

Summerfield Lady Rebels racked up on the gold in the regional track meet.  Akeriah Jones took three first place medals in the 100 (13.36), 200 (28.45), and as part of the 4 x 200 (1:56.13).  Jones also had a third place in the 100 hurdles.  Other members of the 4 x 200 relay team were Armiya Williams, Zyan Smith, and Ella Adkins.  Armiya Williams caught an individual title in the shot put (29-1.5) and third place in the 100.  Williams was also a member of the winning 4 x 400 relay team (5:02.93).  Other members of the 4 x 400 team were Ella Adkins, Shayla Ford, and Kearra Wilson.  Ella Admins also won the 400 (1:11.08) and third place in the 300 hurdles.  Shayla Ford was regional champ in the 3200 (14:33.07).  Zyan Smith finished as runner-up in the 400 and third in the high jump.  Kiarra Wilson won the 1600 (6:30.85) race.  Amiliah Ford finished third in the javelin.  The Rebels boys track team was lead by Martravious Kennedy with three medals.  Kennedy won the 110 hurdles (18.13) and was third in both the 200 and high jump.  Dalton Wilson claimed a javelin (148-6) title in the regionals and finished third in the 400.  Marquez Tate won the shot put (39-5) and was runner-up in the discus.  Jeremiah Hudson complete the 3200 in second and the 800 in third.  Amarion Jones won the discus (102-8). Seth Thurman finished as regional runner-up in the 3200. Markece Cooper was third in the 300 hurdles. 

Saline Lady Bobcats reached the podium 11 times at the regional meet.  Ce’Nada Weathers took two medals back home winning the discus (68-1) and third in the shot put.  Alana Gray finished with two runner-ups in the 100 and long jump.  Xyzeria Lard had a second place in the shot put and third in the discus.  Jordan Williams won the javelin (109-9) while Alaya Gray finished second.  Ally Mauthe won the high jump (3-8).  Katie Barnett took runner-up in the 800.  Tyla Malone was third in the triple jump.  Maddox Williams gave the Bobcat boys track team one of two first place medals.  Williams won the 3200 (10:59.37) and was runner-up in the 1600 and as part of the 4 x 400 relay team.  Members of the 4 x 400 team were Trenton Ledbetter, Williams Dison, and Cameron Young.  Trenton Ledbetter had the other gold medal in the 800 (2:18.45). Dison and Young were also part of the 4 x 200 region runner-up relay team.  Other members of the 4 x 200 were Gavon Dailey and Delonte Rager-Ridley.  Dison was also part of the 4 x 100 relay team that placed second along with Jay Nash, Gavon Dailey, and Delonte Rager-Ridley. Jay Nash finished third in the 110 hurdles.  Gavon Dailey was runner-up in the 300 hurdles.  Delonte Rager-Ridley had an individual medal finishing second in the high jump.  Jeremiah Gray tossed the shot put to a second place medal.  Mason Brawley had second while Treyvon Colvin was third. 

Atlanta’s Ja’Riyah Turner was the only individual medal winner for the Lady Bulldogs.  Turner placed third in the 400.  The 4 x 100 relay team finished second and the 4 x 200 relay team was third.  Members of both teams were Ja’Tyrah Sykes, Janise Starks, Ty’Liah Sapp, and Serenity Powell.  Just like the girls, only one individual medal was won by the Bulldogs squad.  Kevion Sapp placed third in the 100.  Sapp was also part of the third place 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relay teams.  Other members were Bryant Nash, Kelton Perry, and Brian Small.

Dodson will send one representative to Baton Rouge as Joshua Box finished third in the long jump. 

Class C Region 2 (Hackberry) (April 25)

Pleasant Hill will send three representatives to Baton Rouge.  Javonte Ford finished as runner-up in the 400.  Kevin Scott finished third in the 100.
