The Shreveport Mavericks took out the first place Enid Outlaws 115-108 at the Stride Bank Center on Saturday night.  The crucial win locks down the No. 2 seed for the Mavericks in next week’s playoffs.  

The bench for the Mavericks was valuable as they scored 56 points to the Outlaws’ 7 bench points.  

Paul Parks had a double-double scoring  32 points and 12 rebounds.  Jamal Brantley also had a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.  Tyrin Cunningham netted 14. Tyrone Jordan added 13 points.  Big Paul Harrison banged the boards for 11 rebounds 

Enid opened the game looking to run over the Mavericks with an 11-0 run in the first four minutes.  Paul Parks stopped it burying a three.   Shreveport chipped away at the lead to 13-7.  Enid’s Artis and Moore popped another 6-0 run to push to 19-7.   Bilal Richardson netted 4 followed by Alanie Moore three.  Artis broke the run with a layup.   Jamal Brantley countered with his layup followed by McIntyre’s three.  Shreveport was back in the game behind the 12-2 run at 21-19.   The two traded shots until 8 seconds remaining when the Mavericks took the lead for the first time with a layup by McIntyre.  Shreveport took a 27-26 lead into the second quarter. 

Brantley and McIntyre opened the second quarter with another 10-2 run.  Shreveport expanded their lead to 37-28.  Shreveport pushed the lead as high as 10 points.  Enid would make two shots to Shreveport’s one and cut the lead to no less than 5 with 2:56 remaining.  At the last minute, the Outlaws would score the final four points to catch Shreveport and the two went into halftime tied 56-56. 

For little under the first five minutes, Enid could get no more than a 5 point lead.   Enid.  A small burst of 4 points for the Outlaws to the Mavericks 2 points moved the Outlaws’ lead to a high of 9 points with 3:10 remaining at 85-76.  Two Parks 3-pointers and Jordan’s layup cut the lead to 87-84 with 1:36 remaining.   Denson took the lead back to 5.  Cumming layup and another three by Parks tied the game at 89-89 heading into the final quarter. 

Harrison and Brantley kicked off with baskets to get the early leaf at 93-89.  Enid stopped the offensive surge, but Parks buried a three to push up to five point lead.   Shreveport maintained the lead despite Enid trying to regain it and was as close as 102-101 with 5:48 remaining.  Parks nailed another three and two free throws by Jordan and opened the game to 107-101 for The Mavericks.  Enid stopped the run with a basket by Moore.  Shreveport went on a 6-0 run to a ten point lead with 1:43 remaining.  A last gasp effort by the Outlaws was too late as the Maverick gained the win.

The final seeding for the top six playoff teams was decided on Sunday afternoon.  Shreveport will receive a first-round bye.
