The LHSAA released the 2024 playoff brackets on Monday afternoon. Northwest Louisiana small schools fared well in the draw.
Arcadia Lady Hornets snagged the No. 1 seed in Division IV non-select playoffs and received the only local bye in Division III through V.
Twelve of the twenty-three first-round local games will be home games. Mansfield, Winnfield, Lakeview, Homer, Gibsland-Coleman, Castor, Summerfield, Negreet, Quitman, Calvary, Cedar Creek, and St. Mary’s all be hosting first-round games.
The first round of the playoffs will be sending local teams all across Louisiana. The shortest trip will be 32 minutes according to MapQuest with Converse traveling 31.8 miles to Negreet. Four local teams will have to travel over 250 miles for a first-round playoff game. In fourth place, Glenbrook Lady Apaches will have to travel 266 miles to Plaquemines, LA, and play St. John. Third, Logansport will travel across the state to face Kentwood. The surprise runner-up trip will have to travel to the Gulf Coast in Plaquemines Parish where the Class C Calvin Lady Cougars will face Phoenix High School Spartans. The honor of going the furthest for the playoffs will be the Loyola Lady Flyers traveling 4 ½ hours to take on Northlake Christian in Mandeville. A whopping 314 miles to travel.
