Santa may have come and gone, but District 1-A stayed busy late in the week throughout the state. Calvary boys took two wins down in Lafayette. Homer Lady Pelicans, Plain Dealing Lions and Lady Lions, and Haynesville Lady Tornadoes travel west on I-20 to compete all across Bossier Parish in the Airline school-sponsored Doc Edwards’ Tournament (See Homer Pulls Out Win in Doc Edward’s Tournament; Other scores from Doc Edwards and District 1-A Teams Face Variety of Adversity at Doc Edwards Tournament to see how these teams did). Lincoln Prep boys and girls along with Homer Pelican went the opposite direction to Ouachita Parish to compete in the Sterlington tournament and West Monroe tournament.
Arcadia and Gibsland-Coleman had to change the venue due to an issue with the Arcadia gym. The turned Gibsland-Coleman home game gave the Lady Bulldogs to end 2019 with some fireworks as the Lady Bulldog’s triple threat exploded in their victory. Ke’Honesty Williams netted three 3-pointers on route to 26 points. Jamaya Jackson bucketed 15 points. Samora Sampson scored 11. The Arcadia Lady Hornets were led Teairia Adams with 13 points. Kayla Currie pitched in 10. Arcadia’s Tyler Jefferson was a three-point rocket launcher as he swished six 3-pointers en route to 31 points. Qua Crane also had a hot hand in scoring 22 in the Hornets victory. Khyrese Taylor added 10 for Arcadia. The Bulldogs, although fell short, had big scoring nights from Kee’Tyrrie Abney with 14, Marcus Durham with 13, and Terrence James-Gray with 10.
