The Region 1 Division IV cross country meets were held last Thursday in Ruston.   These races are the qualifiers for the state cross country meet to be held on November 14 at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.   The top eight teams in each regional race qualify for state.  If a team does not qualify via team, they have to finish in the top 25 individually to qualify for the state meet.  

Cedar Creek girls claimed regional champ.  The Lady Cougars finished with 33 points.   Taylor Ramsey won the regional race with a time of 20:35.28.  Madison Morris finished sixth overall in 21:43.95.  Anna Grace Lee was hot on her heels in seventh at 21:44.68.  Catherine McAdams gave the Lady Cougars a fourth top 10 runner in tenth place.   Caroline James rounded out the scoring for the Lady Cougars in 15th.  

Converse Lady Wildcats finished second in the Division IV regional race.  Abigal Bozeman finished as regional runner-up with a time of 20:48.02.   Zoey Raborn gave Converse a second top 10 finish in ninth place at 21:54.67.   Eighth-grader Anna Avertt finished 22nd for the Lady Wildcats.  Preslye Rivers and Irene Dobbs rounded out the scoring for Converse.  

The Lady Aggies runners finished fourth and qualified for state.  Kamryn Rhodes was the top Choudrant runner in 13th.  Heather Murphy and Tanya Mina gave top 20 performances in the 19th and 20th, respectively.  Kadence Nugent and Abbie Fraser added points to the Lady Aggies total. 

In the Division IV Regional boys race, D’Arbonne Woods won the regional team competition.  The Timberwolves took the top three individual runners.   

Cedar Creek took second in the teams competition.  The Cougars finished 6th, 7th, and 8th.  Myles Carpenter, Ethan McCarthy, and Connor Johnson took those slots, respectively.  Anderson Maxwell finished 12th for the Cougars.  John Abram Earle had a top 20 finish in 17th.  

The Choudrant Aggies finished third in the team competition with 89 points.  Hagen Davis gave Choudrant a top 10 finish at No. 10 in 18:38.40.   Garrett Spearman took the 20th place spot.  Senior Owen Watson finished in 24th.  Jack Groce and Ren Stephens finished back-to-back at 27th and 28th. 

Converse qualified for state with a fourth place finish in the regional.  Logan Carter was the top Wildcat in 9th with a time of 18:11.88.  Johnnie Rhodes finished 14th.  Auldyn Sepulvado finished in the top 25 at 25th.   Jacob Fager and Chezny Reeder each scored for the Wildcats.  

Lakeside finished sixth in the boys team competition and qualified for the Division IV state meet.  Scoring runners for the Warriors were Luke Mandino, Gavin Woodall, Brandon Bell, Mason Liles, and Peyton Gray.

Weston will head to the LHSAA state meet with an eighth place finish.  Runners for the Wolves are Daniel Albert, Dillon Pardue, Darrin Allen, Emery Caskey, and Ethan McCarty.

Calvary didn’t have enough runners for team competition but all three runners had top 25 finishes and qualified for the state meet.  Jackson Burney was the top Cavalier finishing 4th overall in 16:54.44.  Ty Knight was right behind Burney at 5th finishing in 17:23.96.  Owen Thomason completed the race in 16th place.  

Quitman Wolverines will have a representative in Natchitoches as Freshman Gage Horton qualified with the 21st place finish.  

Simsboro will also send a runner to the Division IV championship as Tristan Deloney had a 23rd place finish.  

The Ochsner LHSAA Cross Country State Meet will be held in Natchitoches at Northwestern State University.   Division IV girls will race at 2:15 pm.  Division IV boys will start their race at 3:45 pm.
