The LHSAA Golf season will culminate over Monday and Tuesday in South Louisiana. The boys will compete at The Wetlands in Lafayette. The girls will compete at Les Vieux Chenes also in Lafayette. Calvary Lady Cavaliers will send Allie Hutchings and Emily Bennett to compete. Calvary boys team will send Kannon Savage, Tyler Jones, Bryce Carpenter, Ezra Smith, and Hunter Harris.
Hutchings and Bennett’s road to the state tournament began at The National Golf Club in Westlake. The individual winner was Sarah Knight from Ouachita Christian shooting an 83. St. Mary’s claimed the team regional championship with 213 points. Loyola finished second with 221. Calvary finished third with 238 points. Hutching finished fifth with a 105. Emily Bennett shot a 133 placing 10th.
Calvary boys were a little longer to get to the state tournament. Calvary started with the district meet. The top golfer was Caden Lester finishing with a 75. Ouachita Christian was the district champ with 340 points. Calvary finished second with 356. Quitman and Cedar Creek also qualified for the regional tournament. Local team Ringgold sent Dominic Fowler and Ian Reed who did not qualify. Calvary’s Kannon Savage finished second with a 78. Tyler Jones finished third overall with an 82. Bryce Carpenter shot a 95 ended with 9th place. At the regional tournament at Oakwing Golf Course in Alexandria. Once again Caden Lester wins the regional championship with a 76. Ouachita Christian claimed the regional championship with 338. Calvary finished second 379. Quitman and St. Mary’s also qualified for the state tournament with a 399 and 401. Calvary’s Kannon Savage finished in a three-way tie for 82. Tyler Jones had a 9th place finish with a 91. Bryce Carpenter was right outside the top ten at 11th shooting a 100. Ezra Smith was 16th with a 106.
Tee-offs for the LHSAA Golf Championship will start at 9:10 for the girls and 12:30 for the boys.
