The Calvary boys and girls powerlifting crossed the Red River in order to go an compete with the Airline Vikings in a dual meet at Airline High School on Saturday. The Cavaliers took all divisions except one for both the ladies and young gents.
Kailey Brookshire went uncontested in the 114 division but she pushed herself. She gained the top overall weight of 785. She lifted the top squat at 315 and top bench at 185 for the Lady Cavaliers. She had 295 lbs for the deadlift.
Also uncontested and taking home first place certificates was Airline’s lone win with Tori Greene in the Female SHV division. Skylar Odom won the 132 division with no opponents and lifting 690 lbs. The 198 division was left with no score due to a no bench score by Ebony White from Airline. White was the only contestant in that division.
Kaylin Little winner of the 148 division and Hannah Guerrero winner of the 165 division tied on the top deadlift with 300. Little lifted 720 while Guerrero lifted 705 in total.
The closest matchup was in the 97 division where Emma Grace Lazarus edged out her fellow Lady Cavalier, Caitlyn Perser, by 5 lbs. Perser had the lead heading into the deadlift. Lazarus’s 225 deadlift pushed her over in total for the division title.
Other ladies division winners were Aubrey Mayo for the 105 divsion and 670 lbs., Bailey Barber 123 division with 570 pounds, and Isabel Ranger in the 181 division for 495 lbs total.
Drake Roten lifted the top weight overall in the SHV division. Roten took top honors in with the squat at 545 lbs. He also lifted 320 on bench and 485 on deadlift.
Airline almost snuck four divisions away from the Cavaliers. Trenton Barfield from Airline was short by 5 lbs as Sam Davis. Davis outlifted Barfield on the squat 205-175. Barfield turned it around on the bench and won bench 125-120. Both deadlifted 260 and gave Davis the edge. In the 198 division, Lang held on after gain a 25 lb lead after the squat. Willie Sanders was also 5 lbs short with total weight. In the 242 division, Hayden Howard had a 25 lb lead after winning the squat and bench sections. Donovan Teddlie’s 390 deadlifts brought Calvary the division once again by 5 lbs. Airline’s Allen Martinez gathered top honors for deadlift 505 lbs, but it wasn’t enough to capture the 275 division. Josh Peterman took the 275 division with 1245 pounds, just 5lbs over Martinez.
Runner-up, Parker Malone finished second to teammate Roten in the SHV division. Malone lifted 325 lbs for the bench.
Other male divsion winners were Latarrius Jackson in 123 division with 965 lbs total, Roderick Harris in 132 division with 935 lbs., Jordan Wallace in 148 division with 1065 lbs., Joseph Wilson in 181 division with 1170 lbs, and Brayden Lacaze won the 220 division with 770 lbs.
The Cavs and Lady Cavs will continue to prepare for the championship as they will compete in the D’Arbonne Woods Invitational in two weeks.
