If you would say crazy can happen down the stretch to playoffs, you would be correct. Castor, Doyline, and Saline had a three-way split for the District 1-B girl’s’ title last night. Doyline Lady Panthers defeated the Dodson Lady Panthers on the road 59-28. Then the stars aligned perfectly for a three-way split with the Saline Lady Bobcats beating the Castor Lady Tigers 52-48 at home. This allowed all three teams to finish tied with 4-2 records in the district. For Castor, this is back to back district titles for the Lady Tigers. Saline captured the title on the return to Class B this year. Doyline collected its first district title since 2006.

Doyline Panthers stretched the streak to 24 wins in a row and sealed the District 1-B title with an 87-60 win over the Dodson Panthers. Doyline breezed through District 1-B winning each game by a minimum of 20 points. The Panthers completed their third consecutive district title. This is the first undefeated district record for the Panthers under Coach Michael Normand.

District 1-A boys just became very interesting after Tuesday night. Lincoln Prep Panthers leaped the Arcadia Hornets in the District 1-A standings with a 56-47 win over Haynesville. The Panthers have clinched at least a share of the district title. Arcadia was upset on6 their home court on Tuesday with a 59-46 loss the Homer Pelicans. Calvary remained alive in the District 1-A race with a 63-42 win over Ringgold. The title can all come down in Arcadia on Friday night when the Hornets take on the Panthers. A win by the Panthers and they will clinch the outright district title. Arcadia pulls out the home victory and Arcadia and Lincoln Prep will share the title. The third monkeywrench that could fly in is if Calvary gets the win over Plain Dealing. If the Arcadia scenario and Calvary scenario occurs, District 1-A boys will have tri-district champs all tied at 8-2.

As for the District 1-A girls’ title, it will all boil down between the two Claiborne Parish schools as Haynesville and Homer will finish on Thursday night on Homer’s senior night. A win by the Lady Tors and they will finish as undefeated district champs at 9-0. A win by the Lady Pels and they will split the district with Haynesville at 8-1.

Plenty of reasons to make a Valentine’s Day date at one of the area gyms. Here are the results and standings as of Tuesday night.
