Shreveport United and Red River FC battled to a 1-1 tie at Lee Hedges Stadium on Wednesday night.  Shreveport United has played only their second game and both being at home.  Red River FC although only about 30 miles from their home pitch in Minden has now played their third consecutive match on the road.  

Shreveport United struck first in the 29th minute as Kyle Symczak found the back of the net and gave United the 1-0 lead heading into halftime.  Each team tried to match the other in the first half as each subbed players twice.  For Shreveport United as Daniel Meza went out at the 26th minute and Nick Flowers came in.  Carlos Martinez came in for David Martinez.  Red River FC took out Ricardo Rivas for Andres Carasquilla.  The Black Bears tried to get some additional minute fresh legs with a sub by JP Santos for Futa Koba in the 45th minute.  

The Black Bears tried to close the gap with another substitution as Wiston Zelaya came in for Che Walcott in the 53rd minute.  Shreveport United constantly threw fresh legs on the pitch to maintain their lead.   Goalscorer Symczak went out as Andrew Stuart came in on the 50th minute.  Max Kenyon came in for Flowers in the 57th minute.  Peter Vanhoy substituted for Steven Bush in the 60th minute. Rene Escobar came in the 65th minute for Saul Camacho.  Finally, Dylan Garrett subbed in for Carlos Martinez in the 67th minute.    

The fresh legs weren’t enough as Hugo Juliao received about a 15-yard pass in the top left of the box.  Juliao fired the shot over the Shreveport United goalkeeper to get the tie in the 85th minute.   The two North Louisiana teams finished knotted at 1-1. 

The two teams are currently tied for second place in the Western division after the tie with 4 points each.   Shreveport United will make their first road trip as they will head to Lafayette for Round 2 with Louisiana Krewe on Saturday, May 29 at 7:15 pm.   Red River FC will have one more road trip before they finally make it back to their home pitch.   The Black Bears will face Alexandria PBFC on Saturday, May 29 at 7:15 pm
