Red River FC got back to winning ways on Saturday night at Centenary College with a 4-2 win over Alexandria PBFC.  The win was the first in four tries for the Black Bears.  Early goals were the name of the game in this matchup as Red River had to make an early comeback for the win.

The first twenty minutes of the match were a scoring bonanza for both teams.   Red River drew the first goal as Andres Carrasquilla netted the goal in the 12th minute to get the early lead.   Pool Boys rolled right back into the match.  Gabriel Collins scored just a minute later to tie it up a 1-1.   They didn’t waste time as Nicolas Mboungou gave Alexandria the lead in the 14th minute.  The twenty minutes ended with a little more excitement as Martin Iddon for the Pool Boys was charged with a yellow card.  The Black Bears made their first change pulling Gerardo Martinez and bringing in Che Walcott in the 34th minute.  Red River evened the score at 2-2 in the 38th minute as Carrasquilla grabbed his second goal.  The score remained the same in the action-filled first half.

Not long into the second half, Daniel Maierfhofler received a red card in the 49th minute.  The Black Bears were avoiding getting another loss on the record or adding a fourth tie.  They started making changes to the line-up.  Two-goal scorer Carrasquilla and Maierfhofler went out bringing in Raymond Corea and Joob Sanchez in the 57th minute.  Another substitute happened in the 63rd minute with Michael Tinoco coming in and Futa Kubo going out.  The exchange worked as Corea found the back of the net in the 66th minute to give Red River the 3-2 lead.   Alexandria brought in Trystan St. Louis to try to get back into the match the next minute.  The last ten minute saw more than another sub that paid off for the Black Bears as Nimmer Hammad came in the 82nd minute.  A minute later he would score the insurance goal for Red River and the win.

Red River will play their final game of the season against cross-town rival Shreveport United on Saturday night at 7:15.   Although they may be out of the playoff race, Red River FC could play the role of spoiler for United.  Shreveport United has a shot at possibly a first-round home playoff game.   A Black Bear upset could see them on the road in the playoffs.
