PLAIN DEALINGS LADY LIONS 55, NORTH CADDO LADY REBELS 38

The Lady Lions started strong in the first quarter and slowly built there lead throughout the game to take the win from the cross-river rivals North Caddo Lady Rebels in Plain Dealing on Tuesday night. 

 The Lady Lions scoring leader was Dana Wainwright who scored 16 points. Za’Kiyah Williams bucketed 13. Laterrica Stewart strong second half help her score 12.

North Caddo was led by Sadie Stewart popped two 3-pointers and perfection at the free-throw line by going 8 for 8 and scored a netted a total of 24 points

Plain Dealing jumped out early and built a 15-7 lead after the first quarter.  

The second quarter barely had started Wainwright scored from beyond the arc to give the first 10-point lead of the game. Sadie Stewart countered the shot with a three of her own. The counter between the two continued the remainder of the second quarter until the Rebels bench received a technical foul Both teams fell victim to the referees whistle with numerous turnovers. Each coach trying to get their team’s composure used their allotments of timeouts. Plain Dealing went a 6-0 run and the Lady Rebels went cold and didn’t score for 4 minutes until a foul occurred on Sadie Stewart on a three-point shot. The free throws were automatic three points from Stewart. Despite Sadie Stewart’s free throws, the Lady Rebels did not make another field goal for the final five minutes. Laterrica Stewart capped off the first half with a three-point buzzer-beater to give the Lady Lions the 33-16 lead heading to the locker room.

Blocks and defense from the Plain Dealing backcourt and maintaining small runs increased the Lady Lions lead to 46-26 heading into the final quarter. Laterrica Stewart constant drive to the goal netted one from beyond the arc and a field goal. Sadie Stewart who had scored 16 in the first half went cold in the second half. 

The shooting woes continued for the Lady Rebels in the final quarter as Plain Dealing had the same scoring issues. The Lady Lions had enough to hold on for the 55-38 win.

NORTH CADDO REBELS 69, PLAIN DEALING LIONS 62

The North Caddo Rebels held back the Plain Dealing Lions roar with a 69-62 win at Plain Dealing on Tuesday night.  

Reggie Martin lit up the scoreboard with 32 points for the Rebels. Jaiden Carter pocketed 11 in the net for the night. 6-foot-7 Cortez Collins almost had a double-double as he scored 12 points and blocked eight shots. 

The Lions were led by Darrien Perry swished three 3-pointers along with a perfect 6 for 6 from the free-throw line to accumulate 23 points. Ladarious O’Neal assisted with 10 points for Plain Dealing.

The two teams could grow no further than four points apart until a little under three minutes left. The shots would not fall for the Lions the remainder of the first quarter as they missed their next six shots. North Caddo took advantage and went on a short 6-0 run in the last minutes of the first quarter to get the 19-11 lead.

The Lions cold streak carried forward into the second quarter as a lone free throw could be scored in the next two minutes. Luckily for Plain Dealing, North Caddo went on a cold streak only make one shot during this time. A three-pointer by Perry broke the streak and another shot Ken Gay closed the gap to five points. The Lions also struggled to fire shots around Cortez as he had already recorded his fourth block with four minutes left in the second quarter. Martin broke the scoring drought for the Rebels as he bucketed a jump shot followed by a three to get the lead back to 10 points. The Lions went on a small 6-0 run late in the quarter. A final shot with no time left by Perry closed the gap on the Rebels lead to 38-31 at halftime.

The Rebels became stingy with the ball in the third quarter as Collins continued to bat away shots but North Caddo lost its shooting rhythm again and not be able to score. Plain Dealing took advantage of the few times they had possession and closed within two points at 41-39 of the Rebel’s lead. North Caddo stopped the momentum and called a timeout. North Caddo couldn’t shake the pesky Lions and called timeout again a little over a minute later. That was the trick as North Caddo went on an 11-4 run in the final minutes on the back of Martin who scored 7 points in the final three minutes. The Rebels built back their lead to 11 leading 56-45.  

North Caddo continued the hot streak into the fourth quarter increasing that run to 17-4 from the previous quarter. Plain Dealing attempted to comeback in the final minutes of the fourth quarter but a massive dunk by Collins seemed to stamp on the game. North Caddo fended off Plain Dealing 69-62

Plain Dealing will get some tournament play this weekend as they will stay in Bossier Parish and compete in the Haughton Tournament. North Caddo will head to Blanchard to compete in the Northwood Tournament.
