Northwest LA LHSAA High School Volleyball – Week 6

Kind of a light week with most teams plying just one match or no ma Many and St. Mary’s were the exception getting in three matches.  St. Mary’s put in some weekend work.  

Lookingat district races, the district race for Division IV District 2 could turn out to be interesting as all three teams are currently at .500.  Loyola is 4-0 in District 1 in Division IV and the race could come down week after next as Calvary and Loyola will face each other.  St. Mary’s has already wrapped up the Division V district 1 title. 

Power rankings at the end of the week shows that only three teams may qualify for the playoffs.  Calvary could be the sole home team and looks to have a first and second round playoffs spot to reach Lafayette for a fourth consecutive season.  Many and St.Mary’s could be on the road.  Two teams milling around that 32 spots are.  North Caddo is at #34, Red River is at #35, and Mansfield is at #39.  The race for 20 games is on with 3 weeks remaining.  Calvary is currently the only team to reach that level yet.  The 20 games is important because any team not reaching 20 games will be bumped below teams that reach 20 games when seeding comes out.  Many times that is out of the top 32.  November 2 is the end of the regular season.
