The home doubleheader to turn out to be a holiday for the two teams as both fell on Monday afternoon at The Swamp against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.

University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma 2, LSUS 0

The Lady Pilots played their first home match on Monday morning against the Lady Drovers.   USAO took quick possession and didn’t let go.  The Lady Drovers shot 14 times and had 6 corners before the LSUS got their lone shot by Chelsea Brown in the 41st minute of the first half.  Despite the barrage of shots, LSUS escaped with a scoreless first half.  Science & Arts (5-1) outshot LSUS 15-1 in the first half.  

The Lady Pilots evened the shot game out early in the second half but the Lady Drovers finally connected in the 50th minutes as Alicia Rey scored.  LSUS attempted to even the match with fresh legs and shots from Brown, Alyssa Castillo, and Kirsten Nolan.  In the 67th, Victoria Davis received a yellow card.  Emma Rice took scored on a penalty shot for the Lady Drovers to give them a 2-0 lead and hold on for the win.

University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma 2, LSUS 0

The Pilots’ two-game win streak was broken on Monday afternoon with a 2-0 loss to the Chickasha, OK based school.   The Drovers Devon Charles and Angelo Leendertse fired early shots in the first five minutes but LSUS took control from that point.  USAO would not get another shot the remainder of the half.  Julius Wiliams and Scott Neil got in shots but both were wide in the 25th minute.  Mark Robert’s shot went wide and Abdul Karim Pare required a save by Drover goalkeeper Nathan Fitch three minutes later.  LSUS continued opportunities in the 37th minute with a high shot from Alex Golder and Guilherme Pereira needed another save but the Drovers committed a foul.  Abdul Karim Pare took the penalty shot only to be stopped by Fitch.  Despite outshooting the Drovers 9-2, LSUS couldn’t find the back of the net.  

LSUS picked up where they left off at halftime continuing to pepper the goal with shots.  Maurice Theart, Jack Stracham, and Pare took opportunities to no avail.   USAO got the chance for a penalty kick in the 58th minute.  Leedertse made good on the shot to give the Drovers the 1-0 lead.   LSUS continued to limit shots after the first goal only allowing two shots to their three.  The Drovers added an insurance goal in the 82nd minute with a shot from Darko Borisavljevic with an assist from Butch Hampton.  A crew of fresh legs for the Pilots as Campbell Young, Matt Roberts, Abdoul Karim Pare, Rhys McAllister, and Adam Gonzales came on the pitch.  A last gasp shot by Julius Williams had to be saved but not enough for a Pilots win today. 

LSUS 2, Southwestern Christian University 0 (Saturday)

The Pilots came out of the gate firing as James Averies took a goal shot that was saved by the Eagle’s goalkeeper.  The next shot by Maurice Theart found its target Giving the Pilots the early 1-0 lead in the 7th minute.  The referee whistle kept the teams under fire.  SWCU and LSUS each compiled seven fouls.  Martin Rasmussen Lun was charged with a yellow card for the Pilots.  Scott Neil took a high shot in the 17th minute and Arsenios Dimitrious required a save in the 31st minute.  The Eagles didn’t take their first shot until the 44th minute.  LSUS took a 1-0 lead into halftime.  

The Eagles came out aggressive and the referees took notice.  Two more fouls and a yellow card Jose Manuel Mejia for the Eagles in the first five minutes of the second half.  LSUS took an opportunity with Dimitrious shot that was blocked.  Julius Williams was successful behind an assist by Martin Veys to cushion the lead to 2-0 for the Pilots.    LSUS continued to dominate possession on their third of the pitch and attempted to add to their lead.  Two shots by Guilherme Pereira was blocked in the 71st and 72nd minute.  The Pilots also had two corner kick opportunities.  SWCU didn’t take their first shot of the second half until the 74th minute.  The Eagles tried to close the gap with a couple of more shots late but not much success.  LSUS held on for their second win in a row.  

The Lady Pilots will head on the road next week as they will head to Baton Rouge to take on the Southern Lady Jaguars on Friday at 2 pm.   The Lady Pilots will then head to Mississippi Valley State to take on a second SWAC opponent on Monday at 6 pm.  The Pilots will finish out their third homestand on Wednesday at 3 pm at the Swamp against Texas Wesleyan University.
