The LSUS Lady Pilots currently making a  road trip against Division I SWAC conference team Southern.  The D1 challenge on the road trip resulted in a 1-1 tie with the Lady Jaguars.

Southern outshot LSUS 35-7 for the match.  Goalkeeper Karolyn Hasler made an impressive 12 saves to keep the Lady Jaguars from blowing the game out in 90 minutes of play.   Carlota Alcade finished the final 20 minutes overtime with a save.  

Dawniella Torres was the first to score in the game for the Lady Pilots as Kristen Nolan found Torres available for the score in the 15th minute.  LSUS battle to keep their lead in defense as Southern drew 5 corners and outshot the Lady Pilots 11-3.   One of those shots finally was successful for Southern as Kaitlyn Hale with an assist from Amina Booker tied the match in the 42nd minute.  The first half closed with a 1-1 tie.  

LSUS defense had to combat a barrage of shots in the final 45 minutes.  Southern pelted the goal with 17 shots to LSUS single shot.  LSUS made 8 saves in the second half.  The aggression picked up as Southern was charged with 5 fouls to LSUS 4.   The two were knotted at 1 after regulations.

The first overtime saw LSUS took 2 shots to Southern’s one shot but no success breaking the tie.  

Southern roared back in the second overtime and took 5 shots in the ten minutes overtime.  Nothing crossed the goal line to end the game with a 1-1 tie. 

Tores took the most shots with the Lady Pilots was 3.  Kristen Nolan took a chance on on two shots.  Ameris Taylor and Chelsea Brown each captured a shot.

The Lady Pilots (1-2-2) will travel to Jackson next Friday (17th) to face Millsaps College (0-3-1).
