District 1-C only has two teams and will only have two games.  Gibsland-Coleman boys and girls both got their first district win. District 1-A starting to let the district races warm up as a full slate of district games highlighted the late week action on the hoops court.  

Gibsland-Coleman girls continue to be one of the top teams in the area as they captured their first district win.  Ke’Honesty Williams scored a massive 27 points for the Lady Bulldogs.  Jamaya Jackson bucketed 15 points in the win over Summerfield.  

The Bulldog boys picked up their first district win with a 70-55.  Joshua Adams led GCHS with 14 points.  Michael Woodford buckets.  Terrance James and Javion qCurry each popped 10 for the ‘Dogs. 

The rematch at Summerfield is scheduled for January 26. A win by Gibsland-Coleman and they will be outright district champs.  A feat which the boys have not done since 2011.  The girls have not won the district in over 10 years.  A loss by the Bulldogs and/or Lady Bulldogs could trigger a district championship game.

Dodson celebrated homecoming this Friday and the Lady Panthers got their first win of the season with a 48- over Downsville Lady Demons.  Ja’Nyiah Weary bucketed 17 in the win for the Lady Panthers.  Sadie Beaubouef added 14.  The Panthers finished off the homecoming festivities with a 75-57 win.  Beau Canter led the Panther with six bombs from beyond the arc for 23 points.  Caleb Barton buried 16 points in the first half en route to 18.  Xaidien Hall and Quinton Edwards each contributed 12.   This was the second time this week Dodson had played Downsville.  

Doyline Lady Panthers got the chance to play although the boys were not able for another week.  Layla Baker made a massive 26 points in the 73-43 win.  Unikka Miller netted 16.  Tadea Rabb scored 14.  D. Feaster added 11.   Laynla Adams was the top scorer for Ringgold with 14.  Heather Cox bucketed 11.

The Castor Tigers split games at the end of the week.  The Tigers fell 66-42 to Quitman on Thursday night.  Cade Young led Castor with 13.  Jamarrion Clark popped three 3-pointers with a total of 12. Friday night the Tigers rebounded at home with a 52-36 win over D’Arbonne Woods.  Young scored 15.  Clark had an 8-point fourth quarter to finish with 15.  

The Lady Tigers six-game win streak came to an end on Thursday falling 50-48 to Quitman.  Castor took a 10-point lead into the half.  Kaylyn Long had a strong 10-point first quarter.  A rough third quarter gave the Lady Wolverines the lead.   Kaylyn Long led the Lady Tigers with 14.  Jalexia Caldwell scored 10.  Ambree Collinsworth and Kalena Smith also had 10 points. Friday night, the Lady Tigers were missing a key player due to quarantine against D’Arbonne Woods.  The Lady Tigers fell short 46-37.  Kalena Smith led with 15.  Ambree Collinsworth scored 14.

The Saline Bobcats had to come back with a 27 point fourth quarter to take the win from the Choudrant Aggies.  Ethan Roberts and Titus Jackson 9 point fourth quarters were key to the comeback.  Roberts finished with 27 points.  Jackson bucketed 12.  

District 1-A continued district play.  Calvary Cavaliers moved to 2-0 in the district with a 88-27 win over Magnolia School of Excellence Mariners on Friday.  Daniel Ortiz piled on the buckets again with 28 points.  Will Bagley netted 18.   Labree Williams gains a double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 blocks.  Malaki Thomas scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. 

Homer Pelicans also moved to 2-0 as they squeaked by Lincoln Prep Panthers 64-62.  Takeviuante Kidd scored 26 for the Pels.  D’Anthony Kimble netted 23.  TyMarkus Tate had 10.   The Panthers top scorer was Meci Payne with 23.  

The Lady Pelicans started district play with a 40-31 win over Lincoln Prep.  Justice Young and Kersten Webb shared the lead for Lady Pels with 11 points.  Tiyan Heard with 14 was the high scorer for the Lady Panthers.  

Plain Dealing and Ringgold opened district play in North Bossier parish.  Ringgold Lady Redskins struggled to score in the first half as Plain Dealing took a 27-5 lead.      

The Lions.  The Lady Redskins tried to cut the lead back as Laylna Adams 8 point fourth quarter was not enough as the Lady Lions pulled out the 43-30 win.  Za’Kiyah Williams caught fire with four 3-pointers on her way to 20 points.  De’Nya Lewis scored 10 points all in the first half.  Chelsea Hullaby was the top scorer do Ringgold with 9 points.

Plain Dealing fell victim to another close loss as Ringgold opened district with a road win.  Six of the Lions losses have come from 10 points or less.  The two teams stayed tight in the first half as Plain Dealing took a 24-23 lead into halftime.  Ringgold struggled in the third quarter and the Lions opened up a 10 point lead heading into the final quarter.   Ringgold went to the foul line 15 times in the fourth.  Fortunately for the Redskins they hit eight of those in their 22 points final quarter to take the 49-45 win.   Keesean Johnson scored 17 with 6 rebounds and 5 steals.  Joari Adams 7 points in the final quarter to finish with 10 points with 7 rebounds and 5 blocks. Monroe McCarty led the Redskins with 9 rebounds.  The Lions were led by Carnez Hillmon with 13 points.  Tre Boyd added 12 for the Lions.  

District 1-A will continue the race next week as Ringgold will sneak in a Thursday night matchup with Weston.   The key matchups could be 2-0 Homer versus 2-0 Calvary.  For the ladies, watch out for the Homer versus Haynesville matchup on Tuesday.  District 1-B kicks off play starting next Friday.  A hidden gem next week could be the Doyline versus Gibsland-Coleman game on Tuesday night in Doyline.   Gibsland-Coleman and Summerfield will. each takes a shot at Jonesboro-Hodge on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
