Doyline Panthers and Gibsland-Coleman Lady Bulldogs Ranked No. 1 in Recent Power Rankings; Early Week Scores

With the December 3rd release of the latest LHSAA Power Rankings see the Doyline Panthers and the Gibsland-Coleman Lady Bulldogs sit atop their respective class weekly rankings. Every coach will tell you its too early to start looking at the power rankings, but strong starts by both programs give them a good foundation to start building cases for good playoff seedings. The LHSAA Power Rankings are used at the end of the season to seed the playoffs.

The Doyline Panthers as of the December 3rd release currently sit at No. 1 with a 10-2 record. The Panthers wins over higher class wins over Lakeside, Homer, Arcadia, and Cedar Creek boosted their power ranking points. Other top 10 ranked teams in other classes are as follows:

Boys

Class A #2 Arcadia 1-1

                               #3 Lincoln Prep 2-0

                               #4 Homer 5-3

Class C #3 Summerfield 5-5

                               #10 Gibsland Coleman 6-5

Division IV #5 Calvary 1-2

Division V #4 New Living Word 6-2

The Gibsland Coleman Lady Bulldogs young, fast team have vaulted to the No. 1 spot in the Class C rankings. Big wins over 3A Union Parish and 4A Minden contributed to gaining the top spot. The Lady Bulldogs’ recent second place in the Lakeside Tournament gave some key wins towards their 8-2 record. Gibsland-Coleman doesn’t have to look far away for as a district rival, Summerfield sits at No. 4 with a 9-0 record. 

The Haynesville Lady Golden Tornados sit atop the Class A early in the rankings as their first two opponents in 5A powerhouse Southwood and a win over Class 4A BTW strengthened there early No. 1 ranking. Lincoln Prep currently holds the only other top 10 locally at No. 4 with a 3-2 record.
