Tuesday night the Dodson Panthers and Castor Lady Tigers added to the district win column at Castor.   Homer and Haynesville ladies continue to make the District 1-A race interesting.   Doyline boys and girls continue to top District 1-B.

Castor Lady Tigers rebounded Tuesday night after their loss to Doyline with a 62-36 win over Dodson.  The Lady Tigers jumped out early as Dodson struggled to find the basket.  Two free throws were the sole score for the Lady Panthers in the first quarter.  Castor pounced with a 14-2 first quarter.  Timeria Gray and Kendall Vise kept active under the boards with 6 rebounds each in the first half.  Castor expanded their lead to 25-8 at the half.  The Lady Tigers had a massive third quarter outscoring Dodson 33-14.   Kalena Smith bucketed two 3-pointers and scored 11 in the third quarter.   Jalexia Caldwell also scored double-digits in the third with 10.  Caldwell also had 5 assists in the third.  Castor led 58-22 heading into the fourth quarter.   Sadie Beaubouef finished strong fourth but not enough as Castor pulled away from the win.  Kalena Smith was the lead scorer for the Lady Tigers with 15 points.  Emma Guice bucketed 12.   Jalexia Caldwell helped out with 10 points and 6 assists.   Timeria Gray and Kailey Ann Shirley controlled the boards with 8 and 6 rebounds, respectively.  Logan Womack scored 12 points and grabbed 8 rebounds for Dodson.  Sadie Beaubouef also scored 12 and 6 rebounds.  

Dodson Panthers started faster Castor as they jumped out to an early 12-4 spiked by a Caleb Barton 3-pointer.   A three by Shirley for the Tigers started an 11-0 run-in the first.   Castor jumped out to a 20-11 lead before a Panther timeout.  Castor finished the first quarter up 27-15.   Dodson began to creep back in the game with three steals and a score by Quinton Edwards followed by a three from Xaidien Hall.   Castor called a timeout up 27-20.  With a little under three minutes remaining in the half,  Dodson retook the lead.   Dodson took a slim 40-37 lead into halftime.  Castor’s woes only began in the second.  Jamarrion Clark already had 4 fouls by halftime and had to send the Clark to the bench for the third.  Dodson opened on an 8-0 run before Castor took another timeout.   Castor struggled to find the basket as Dodson bombed three consecutive three-pointers by Barton and Evans.  Castor’s lone score came with 25 seconds remaining in the third as the Panthers headed into the final quarter 60-39.   Castor made a brief come back before Clark fouled out and a technical foul ended any chance.  Benches finished for both teams for the Dodson win.   Xaidien Hall was the top scorer for the Panthers with 25.   Caleb Barton finished with 22 points and 5 assists.  Quinton Edwards netted 16 points along with 7 assists and 5 steals.  Beau Canter banged in 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.  D. Bux added 6 rebounds.  For the Tigers,  Gage Jordan led with 15 points and 5 rebounds.  Cade Young scored 13 points and 5 rebounds.  C. Shirley pocketed 11 points and 5 rebounds.  Jamarrion Clark bucketed 9 points and 6 rebounds.  

Just down the road in Bienville Parish, the Doyline Panthers and Lady Panthers remained undefeated in District 1-B with wins over Saline.  The boys pulled out a 95-87 win.  Jamaria “Juicy” Clark had another massive game with 37 points including a huge 15 point first quarter.  Jamari Markray and Armandre Dotie each scored 22.  Caden Mingo added 11.   Saline’s Titus Malone scored 17 in the final quarter in his total of 31.   Ethan Roberts bucketed 28 for the Bobcats.  The Lady Panthers had another nail-biter with a 59-56 win.  Layla Baker led the Lady Panthers with 18.   Nea Feaster finished with 16.  Unnika Miller added 16.   Georgia Robinson got hot beyond the arc with six 3-pointers for a total of 28 do the Lady Bobcats.  Alana Givay scored 18 for Saline.

In District 1-A,  Haynesville and Homer are making a race for the ladies’ district title.   District leading, Homer defeated Ringgold 58-18.   Justice Young finished with 18 points for the Lady Pels.  Jer’Niyah Curry added 15.  Haynesville Lady Tors grabbed another close win with a 40-37 victory over Plain Dealing.   Grambling signee Marrisa Tell scored 12 for the win.  The Lady Lions top scorer was De’Nya Lewis with 11 points.   Amaria Duncan contributed 10.  

Arcadia Lady Hornets got their first district win of the season with a 42-20 win over Calvary Lady Cavaliers.  Makeija Vallaire netted 13.   J. Cockerham added 10 for Arcadia. 

Calvary Cavaliers got a night off from district play as their original game with Arcadia was postponed.   The Cavs got a pickup game with Parkway.   Calvary battled back from a 19-point halftime deficit to snatch the 64-63 win over the Panthers.  Ben Ponder rolled a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.  Daniel Ortiz scored 15 along with 5 rebounds.  The double-doubles keep coming for Labree Williams with 15 points and 12 rebounds along with 5 blocks.  Martin McDowell netted 8 points and 6 rebounds. 

Homer Pelicans staying close in the District 1-A boys race moving to 4-1 in the district after a 67-57 win over Ringgold.   D’Anthony Kimble had a big night for the Pels with 32 points.  TyMarkus Tate finished with 13.  Takeviuante Kidd scored 10.   Keesean Johnson led the Redskins with 21 points.  Joari Adams hit three 3-pointers on his way for 13.  Jordan Cook also added 13.  

Plain Dealing and Lincoln Prep are scheduled to be back in action on Friday night.   District 1-B will finish their first half of district play this weekend.
