The first round of the LHSAA girls basketball playoffs started on Thursday night and District 1-A went 3-1 in the first round. With the Lincoln Parish win tonight, the second round will feature a showdown of district rivals when the Lady Panther will have to travel to Haynesville on Monday night. Plain Dealing will have their hands full with their second-round matchup as they will have to travel just north of Opelousas to take on the No. 1 seeded North Central Lady Hurricanes. Homer Lady Pels will get to stay at home for another round as they will host the No. 9 Logansport Lady Tigers on Monday night.
All four District 1-B teams exited with some close matchups in many of the games. All four teams were on the road for the first round.
Class C will get to kick off action in the second round as both Summerfield and Gibsland-Coleman got first-round byes. The No. 1 seeded Summerfield Lady Rebels will get to host the No. 16 seeded Harrisonburg. Gibsland-Coleman Lady Bulldogs will get to sink their teeth at home against the No. 12 seeded Johnson Bayou Rebels.
Calvary Lady Cavs will begin their playoffs next Monday night in The City of Lights as they will travel to Natchitoches to take on the No. 2 seeded St. Mary’s Tigers

No. 16 Plain Dealing Lady Lion 54, No. 17 West St. John Lady Rams 37
Laterrica Stewart swished 20 points to lead the Lady Lions to the next round. Americi Duncan also contributed 14 along with Dana Wainwright’s 10 points.
Mickel Waxter led the West St. John with 21 points.
No. 8 Homer Lady Pels 56, No. 25 Montgomery Lady Tigers 35
Despite pulling off a double-double West All-Star representative Jor’dan Shelton pulled off 13 points, 11 assists, 7 rebounds, and 7 steals in a supporting role for her teammates. Fellow senior Shannon Turner bucketed 18 points for the win. Jerniyah Curry scored 14.
A. James was the lead scorer for Montgomery with 14 points. R. Grongre chipped in 11.
No. 12 Lincoln Prep Lady Panthers 53, No. 21 Oak Grove Lady Tigers 31
Auniyah Rhone lit up the scoreboard with 19 points against Oak Grove on Tuesday night. Tiyan Heard slammed in 10 points for the Lady Panthers.
