The Calvary Lady Cavaliers volleyball squad after having their rematch with the Parkway Lady Panther’s rematch canceled due to COVID-19 heard some good news on Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Cavs made it to the No. 1 slot in the Division V rankings for the fourth consecutive week. At 13-0 for the season, Calvary can not only boast of the best record in Northwest Louisiana currently, but they are one of only four teams in the state that are undefeated with double-digit wins. Their company includes Dominican (Division I, 16-0), Teurlings Catholic (Division II, 10-0), Academy of Our Lady (Division II, 14-0).
Coach Jon Casey says they are enjoying the fruits of their labor but still have some work to do. “The team has worked so hard but realize there is still work left to be done,” Casey said. “We are very thankful for all of the support from Calvary and especially the absolute best fans in volleyball. No one cheers as our guys do…they are our seventh teammate.”
Calvary will take one more on the road at Benton on Friday night before a back to back sentimental home games. Monday, the Lady Cavs will have senior night and take on Division I Captain Shreve Lady Gators. The next night, they will get to try to lock down history again with a home game against Evangel and wrap up a district title for their final regular-season home game.
