The LHSAA released their first power rankings since December 17 and the holiday break has seen some teams around the state pass some of the local teams in the power rankings.

One of the teams that were not affected and have played nine games in the past two weeks was the Calvary Cavaliers (8-6). They finished the two weeks 6-3 and moved up in Division IV power rankings to No. 3. The bump comes as a result of winning the Minden tournament. Three of the wins came over higher class teams and gave them some much-needed power ranking bonus points. The Cavs also took two of three games down at the St. Thomas More tournament in Lafayette.

Despite being on a 14-game winning streak, the quiet Christmas vacation for the Doyline Panthers (16-2) was bumped to No. 3 in Class B being surpassed by No. 2 Hathaway and No. 1 Simsboro. The Panthers picked up two wins over D’Arbonne Woods (A) and Ebarb since the last power rankings.

Also falling from the No. 1 slot, the Haynesville Lady Tors swept two wins from the Castor Tournament but lost two in the Airline Tournament. The Lady Tornadoes now sits at No. 3.

Debuting in the girls Class A Top 10 Power rankings are the Homer Lady Pelicans at No. 9. The Lady Pelicans had a successful run to the semi-finals of the Minden Tournament. They also got a big win over the Loyola Lady Flyers but fell against 5A Airline Lady Vikings. The Lady Pelicans went 4-2 over the last two weeks

Lincoln Prep Lady Panthers also made their debut in the Class A Top 10 Power Rankings at No.8.

District 1-A boys took a small hit as three teams remain in the top 10. Plain Dealing Lions dropped out of the Top 10. Lincoln Prep Panthers slipped a couple of spots to No. 4 in the latest rankings. The Panthers lost a nailbiter to the 5A Airline Vikings and took two of three in their tournament. They also split at the West Monroe tournament to finish out the two weeks 3-3. Arcadia also fell from No. 4 to No. 7. The Hornets finished out the two weeks 2-3 with dropping two of three in the Lincoln Prep tournament and picking up a win over Gibsland-Coleman. Finally, Homer dropped two spots to No. 8 as they had a run of bad luck at the Minden Tournament and Sterlington Tournament finishing 0-5 in the last two weeks.

Summerfield girls had closed in on the No. 1 slot a couple of weeks ago but fell a spot to No. 3 after two losses over the two weeks.

Gibsland-Coleman Lady Bulldogs maintained their No. 5 ranking. A win in the consolation bracket of the Minden tournament and a win over Arcadia helped them stay in the top 5.

Summerfield boys also stayed in the top 3 as they maintained their No. 3 ranking.

Finally, New Living Word Lions stayed at No. 7 for the third straight ranking.

LHSAA does stress that these are unofficial results. These are unofficial due to not confirmed, not-played, postponed, disputed and canceled games. These do include out of state games and tournaments.
