The Calvary Cavaliers had become the victim of a cancellation due to COVID-19 when Ringgold Redskins had to cancel their contest last week. Coach Rodney Guin went fishing for a new opponent to cover the lost district game. Whoa did he catch a big ‘un. He dragged in a whale of a competitor in the defending Division I state champions Archbishop Rummel Raiders from the historic Catholic League in New Orleans. The District 9 that perineal has such names as Archbishop Shaw, John Curtis, Brother Martin, and of course Archbishop Rummel.

The north Louisiana squad showed what we can bring to the table with this formidable team despite a 31-13 loss. Landy Lyddy continued to air the ball with 381 yards and two touchdowns. His main target was Joseph Wilson for 201 yards and a touchdown. Jordan Wallace got open for a score and 167 yards for the night. The defense for the Cavaliers was led by Dustin Lang with 11 tackles (3 solos, 8 assists) followed by Lattarius Jackson with 7 tackles (4 solos, 3 assists). Other strong performing defense included Trey Kelly and Miller Williams with 6 tackles each (3 solos, 3 assists), Cado Bedgood 6 tackles (2 solos, 4 tackles), and Jeremiah Brown with 5 (2 solos, 3 assists).

The Raiders quarterback Kyle Wickersham threw for 202 yards and 2 touchdowns. Nicholas Howard was the receiver on those two passing touchdowns along with 96 yards. Logan Diggs pounded the turf for 127 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Rummel’s potent defense was led by Kaden White who gained 9 tackles (5 solos, 4 assists) and followed by Kolbe Fields with 8 tackles (6 solos, 2 assists). Other formidable Raiders defense on was Logan Bertucci (4 solos, 2 assists), Caboz Craig with 6 (3 solo, 3 assists), Randy Martin 5 tackles, and Jalen Peleran (5 tackles)

Calvary will return to district play next week as they will take on Magnolia Charter Mariners at home on Friday night.
