Red River FC settled for a tie on Saturday night against Cajun Rush 2-2.  After a red card that sent the Black Bears to 10-men, a late second-half goal pushed the match to the tie.  Red River FC has recorded this tie for the season.  The Black Bears have been winless in their last four matches.

Red River FC was first to strike the scoreboard as Joob Sanchez popped the net in the 26th minute. Brandon Brisco received a yellow card for Cajun Rush in the 27th minute.  That goal was enough to give the Black Bears the halftime lead at 1-0.

The fight for the three points in the table got intense in the second half.   Joob Sanchez sat out the second half in place for Daniel Maierhofler.  Cajun Rush got their first score in the 48th minute with a goal by Austin Clause to tie the match at 1-1.  Both teams went for fresh legs to break the tie.  Che Walcott came in the 50th minute for Red River.  Jabarri Broussard made an appearance in the 58th minute.  The Black Bears received their first yellow card as Futa Koba was charged.  Red River went to the bench one more time as Michael Tinoco came to the pitch in the 60th minute.  The Black Bears broke the tie with a goal by Maierhoffler in the 64th minute.   Rush made a quick substitution with Cameron Auzeere playing in the same minute.  Then tragedy struck for Red River,  Abdullah Rayyan chasing after a possible goal for Rush, tackled him in the box and drew the red card leaving Red River with only 10-men for the remainder of the match in the 71st minute.  After sorting out the card situation, Austin Clause kicked the penalty kick to get the 2-2 tie.  The 10-men Black Bears outnumbered drew a couple more yellow cards for Rafa Muniz in the 73rd minute and Blaine Bougeois in the 75th minute.   Also, trying to break the tie, Cajun Rush’s Dallas Mouton got a little rough and picked up a yellow card in the 79th minute.  Despite two more subs Tullo Garcia in the 80th minute and Thomas Morris in the 84th minute.   The short-handed Black Bears managed to add a point to the standings.

With the tie, Red River FC’s playoff hopes are diminishing. With two games remaining, they are mathematically still able to capture that final playoff spot in the Western Conference, the Black Bears will have to get over their four-game winless streak and win the final two.  They will also have to rely on some other teams to make that leap for the final playoff spot.

Red River will get their first shot to push for that final spot on Saturday when they will face the winless Alexandria PBFC at 7:15 pm.
