Shreveport United made a stronger playoff position after a 5-1 road win over the Central Texas Lobos.   United also moved into second place with the win.  The boys from Shreveport routed the Lobos behind three goals from United mainstay Stephen Bush.   Neither team made any substitutions from the game as all 11 starters completed the entire game.

Shreveport took the first advantage as Hunter Brown popped the net for the first score in the 12th minute.  Bush kept United rolling in the first half as he scored his first goal in the 35th minute.  Shreveport United carried a 2-0 lead into halftime.

The second half saw some yellow cards flying as maintenance of the lead by United and cutting the lead by the Lobos became aggressive.  Central Texas Ahmed Hamed grabbed the first yellow in the 54th minute.  Hunter Brown grabbed the first for United just two minutes later.   Kyle Symczak struck the third goal of the game for Shreveport United in the 64th minute to stretch the lead to 3-0.  The Lobos played desperate to get back in the game.  Two more yellow cards for Central Texas in the 64th minute by Kenny Ramirez and another by Andy Flores in the 65th minute.   The Lobos finally scored in the 77th minute with a goal from Andy Flores.  But here came Bushy as he’s lovingly called.  Another goal in the 79th minute pushed the lead to 4-1.  Bush scored his hat trick on a penalty kick in the 84th minute to seal the 5-1 win.  Bush is now third in GCPL Western Conference in goals with 6.

With the win, Shreveport United moved into second place with 13 points tied with Central Texas.  United has the goal difference with a +1 to the Lobos -2.  Shreveport also has the fifth-best record overall in the Gulf Coast Premier League.

If the season ended today, United would be in the playoffs.  This is the best showing for Shreveport United since being in the GCPL.

Shreveport United will try to stretch the winning streak to four as they will take on the winless Alexandria PBFC on Wednesday at 7:15 pm at Cargill Park.
