The LHSAA released the boys’ basketball playoff brackets on Tuesday and all teams in District 1-A, 1-B, and 1-C opted to play in or qualified for the playoffs.
Lincoln Prep, Doyline, and Summerfield all received first round byes in their respective brackets. Lincoln Prep secured the No. 3 seed in the District 1-A. Doyline eased out Hathaway for the No. 2 spot in Class B. Summerfield clinched the No. 1 seed in Class C on the last day of the regular season.
Due to the nature of the Division brackets, Calvary and New Living Word will not begin playoffs for another week. Calvary finished as the No. 6 seed in Division IV and will host Vermilion Catholic. New Living Word locked down a home playoff game next Tuesday against St. Jospeh’s-Plaucheville.
In District 1-A first round matchups, two district rivals will have to face each other in the first round. Ringgold will have to travel to Homer in the first round matchup. Meanwhile, Arcadia and Plain Dealing secured home first round matchups. Haynesville and Magnolia will have to start their battles on the road. Could be an interesting matchup if Haynesville pulls the upsets over Logansport and Arcadia wins. If this occurs, although Arcadia is the higher seed, they will have to travel to Haynesville for the second-round of the playoffs.
Besides Doyline’s bye, the other three District 1-B teams will have to start on the road. Dodson and Castor will have to travel around Lafayette area for their first round games. Saline will have to head towards Leesville and Fort Polk area.
Summerfield will get to rest until next Tuesday. Gibsland-Coleman will get to host Plainview Hornets on Friday night. An odd occurrence in Class C as the Gibsland-Coleman Lady Bulldogs will be traveling to Plainview for a quarterfinal matchup on Thursday.
Good luck to all our teams in our local areas
