The LHSAA season started last week across gyms in Class B and C last week.  

The Doyline Panther boys started the year with two big wins in the newly renovated gym with wins over Converse and Class B powerhouse Zwolle.  In the Converse game, Jamari Markray finished with 33 and Jamaria “Juicy” Clark had 22.  Clark blew up against the Zwolle Hawks with 43 points including five 3-pointers.  

The Doyline Lady Panthers got a win over Converse on Monday as Keiley Sumlin netted 23 points.  Nea Feaster scored 15.  Layla Baker added 11.  

Castor Lady Tigers dropped their opening game against Claiborne Christian but split in the Dodson Tournament.   Against Claiborne Christian, Kaylyn Long bucketed 12.  Jalexia Caldwell added 10.  In the Dodson tournament, the Lady Tigers fell to Atlanta but defeated Calvin.  In the Atlanta game, Ambree Collinsworth and Kalena Smith both had 12 points.  Long scored 10.  Against Calvin,  Long swished three 3-pointers on her way to 28 points in the win.  Melayeh Rogers scored 10. 

Dodson dropped the opening game of the season to Calvin.  Caleb Barton scored 22 points.  Beau Canter netted 15.  The Panthers were edged out of a close matchup with Weston falling 44-41.  Canter was the top scorer with 12 points.  The Panthers took a Friday 54-45 win over Kilbourne.  Canter once again was the top scorer with 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.  Barton added 18 points.  Dodson rounded out the week with a second matchup with Calvin falling 93-53.   Barton led with 20 points.  Dylan Box scored 11 points and had 12 rebounds.  

Gibsland-Coleman boys start the season at 3-1 and finish 2-0 in the Choudrant tournament.   They started the week with an early win over fellow parish rival Saline.  Terrance James was the lead scorer for the Bulldogs with 14 points.  Joshua Adams scored 10  in the win.  For the Bobcats, Ethan Roberts led with 14 points and Will Dison nailed three 3-pointers on his way to 11.  GCHS suffered their first loss to Simsboro on Thursday night.  Dontarious Coleman bucketed 26 points in the win.   Terrance James and Deavery Durham each scored 11.   The Bulldogs got a rematch with Saline in the Choudrant Tournament and took the win again.   Coleman led once again with 19 points.  Terrance James contributed 11.  Javion Curry scored 10. Ethan Roberts led the Saline Bobcats with 10 points.  To close out the week, GCHS faced the host in the Choudrant Tournament and took their third win of the week.  Coleman netted 17 points.  Terrance James scored 15.  Javion Curry bucketed 10.      

The Gibsland-Coleman Lady Bulldogs are starting on the winning track with a 4-0 record.   Kehonesty Williams kicked the season off with 14 points against Saline.   Seventh-grader Arianna Williams scored 13 points.  Samora Sampson netted 12.   The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Simsboro where they picked up the 52-33 win.  Kehonesty Williams once again led the Lady Bulldogs with 20 points.  Arianna Williams added 14 for the win.  Heading to the Choudrant Tournament, they also faced Saline once again in the same week.  Samora Sampson had a 19-point second quarter en route to 29 points in the win.  Kehonesty Williams scored 22.  Arianna Williams popped three 3-pointers for her 10 points.   Destiny Hardy added 10 points.  Saline’s Georgia Robinson added 13 points for the Lady Bobcats.  Closing out the week, the Lady Bulldogs also faced the host team in the Choudrant Tournament.  Kehonesty Williams closed out the week with 14 points against the Lady Aggies.  Samora Sampson finished with 11 points.
