Christmas break is over and time to get back to the action on the court.  Although some played through the break, some fresh faces started back for the new year.

Plain Dealing hosted Summerfield on Monday night.   Plain Dealing Lady Lions held off a late fourth-quarter comeback by Summerfield.  The two opened close 9-6 with a Lion lead after the first quarter.  Bre Boyd grabbed 9 rebounds in the second quarter.  Two 3-pointers by De’Nya Lewis and another by Za’Kiyah Williams opened the lead for the Lady Lions to 26-18.   Williams struck again in the third with another duo of 3-pointers.  Malaysia Tate for the Lady Rebels tried to keep pace as the lead grew by two to 36-26.   Yilacion McDaniel and Tate started a 6-0 run but Tim ran out for the Lady Rebels with 42-36 loss.   For the Lady Lions, Williams bucketed 20.  Lewis scored 10.  Tate was the high-scorer for Summerfield with 26 points.

Plain Dealing and Summerfield boys looked to be a close matchup in the first quarter as the Lions carried a slight 10-7 lead into the second.  The wheels came off for the Rebels as they shot an unlucky 0 for 13 in the second quarter.  Cedarius Johnson took advantage burying 9 points in the second frame.  Plain Dealing took a 27-7 lead into the half.  Midway through the third tension built up as the two teams got a little heated.  A double technical was called on each team.  D. Wilson took his business behind the arc nailing three 3-pointers for a 9 point quarter.  Johnson added 7 for the Lions.  Plain Dealing continued to roll into the fourth to take the win.

Castor Lady Tigers continue to roll with a 55-48 win over Weston on Tuesday night.   Kaylyn Long led with 18 points.  Kalena Smith contributed 14.   Aubree Collinsworth added 10.    Castor Tigers win their first game of the year with a win over Weston.  Jamarian Clark netted 26 for the win.  T. Bates popped six 3-pointers en route to 22 points.   Gage Johnson and Austin Cooper each scored 10.

Calvary Cavaliers decided to invite some friends from south Louisiana as they took on Bonnabel in a matinee basketball session on Saturday.   North Alabama signee Daniel Ortiz got a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds.   Ben Ponder pounded 20 points against the Bruins.  Labree Williams added another double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.    The Cavs took a trip to the Sibley side of Lake Bisteneau to bring home a win.  Ponder led the Cavs with 17 points.  Ortiz added 15 points.  Martin McDowell bucketed 12.  Williams contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Dodson Panthers launched 11 beyond the arc to capture the win over Georgetown on Tuesday.  Quinton Edwards scored 19 of his 31 points in the second half.  Caleb Barton nailed five of those 3-pointers to his 20.

Saline Bobcats took a road win over the Choudrant Aggies.  Titus Malone scored 13 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter.  Malone had to shoot 11 free throws in the final frame.  Ethan Roberts bucketed 15.  Titus Jackson popped three 3-pointers as part of his 14 points.

Homer, Calvary, and Plain Dealing will all be playing in the 81st Bossier Invitational.  Hopefully, others can continue with their normal schedules.
