One thing is for sure.  Northwest Louisiana will have at least one team in the state championship in New Orleans.  Three teams in Class 1A and 2A wil be competing in state semifinals.  Class 4A North Desoto will also be making an attempt at a return to the state championship with a matchup against Opelousas.

In Select Division III, Calvary Cavaliers (12-0) will be putting their undefeated record on the line with a home semifinal matchup with Isidore Newman (11-1).  The Cavalier demolished Parkview Baptist last week in the quarterfinals.  Running back James Simon broke a schoolrecord with 345 yards.  The Cavaliers are looking for their fourth title.

It has to come down to two northwest Louisiana Nonselect Division IV semifinals.  No. 4 Haynesville (11-1) will have to travel to No. 1 Logansport (11-1).  Logansport’s only loss has been to Calvary and they have rattled off 11 straight wins from then.   Haynesville has also had a loss from a team in the semifinals, defending state champion Oak Grove.  Logansport took care of business last week over Welsh.  Haynesville played their last home game of the season eliminating Jeanerette.  Haynesville will be looking for their 27th trip to the state championship.  Logansport is hoping they have better luck against the other Claiborne Parish team as Homer has defeated them the past two seasons with the older game being the 2021 state championship.

The LHSAA state championships will be played next week from Dec 7-9 at the Caesar’s Superdome in New Orleans.
