The two Claiborne Parish Squads of Homer Pelicans and Haynesville Golden Tornados remained undefeated in district play last Friday night as they pulled some massive wins this week.   

HAYNESVILLE GOLDEN TORS (3-0, 2-0) 63, MAGNOLIA CHARTER (1-2, 1-1) 12

Despite big numbers from Mariners’ Me’Ciah Butler with 291 rushing yards and Joshua Jefferson’s with 124 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns, the District 1-A powerhouse Tors were too much to overcome. Butler and Jefferson also were strong on defense with Butler being credited for 13 tackles and Jefferson tackled with 8. Eric Daniels also added another 7 tackles. Josiah Camarillo and Ti’landous Brown added 5 tackles.  

HOMER PELICANS (2-1, 2-0) 48, LINCOLN PREP PANTHERS (0-3, 0-2) 0

The Homer Pelican handed Lincoln Prep their second consecutive shutout. Pelican junior quarterback Takeviuntae Kidd had a big night completing 9 of 14 for 174 yards and 3 touchdown passes. Kidd also took to the ground crossing the century mark with 102 yards. Kidd connected with his senior receiving core of Xavier Webb, Jaylon Calome, and Terrenzo Winzer each for a touchdown. Leading the line to hold onto the shutout for the Pels was Walteze Ford for 6 tackles. Tamarean Grant, Jaylon Calome, and Jamarquese Hampton all had 5 tackles each for the win.  

Homer was supposed to play Ringgold this week but the Redskins are under quarantine protocol for COVID-19. The Pelican did find an opponent for the week and will host the newly named North Caddo Titans. Haynesville will be on the road for a chance to stay undefeated with a trip to Arcadia.
