LHSAA swim season began in September and here is a recap of the past four weeks of the season. Good luck to all our local teams. Here are some swimmers to keep an eye out for the remainder
GIRLS
McKenzie Jones, Cedar Creek, SR
The Cougar swimmer has already reached the podium nine times this season including taking four first place. Jones has wins in the 200 YD IM, 100 YD Freestyle, 200 Yard Freestyle. The Cougar swimmer was the state runner-up in the 200 YD Freestyle last season.
Claire Roper, Calvary, SR
Roper is back again for the Lady Cavs and already started fast reaching the podium in every race so far this season including with her part in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Roper has wins in the 200-yard IM and twice in the 100-yard Backstroke.
Gracie Jones, Cedar Creek, SO
Jones has reached the podium a couple of times for the Lady Cougars. Her best finish was a 2nd place finish in High School Meet #3 on September 28 in the 100 Yard Fly.
Emily Chanler, Glenbrook, SR
The Lady Apache has been a key part of getting the 200 Yard Medley Relay team to the podium three times this season.
Riley Barnes, Calvary, FR
A glimpse into the future shows the Freshman Lady Cav who captured a win in the 50-yard freestyle and third in the 100-yard backstroke.
BOYS
Camdyn Napper, Cedar Creek, SO
The lone male swimmer for the Cougars has already been racking up the awards. Napper has already taken to the podium in 8 of the 9 races that he’s competed in. Napper is the defending state champ in the 200-yard IM.
Jack Groce, Choudrant, SR
The one-man team for the Aggies has been making waves for the Class B school. Groce has reached the podium 7 times already this season including two first-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle. The Aggie was runner-up to Napper last season in the 200-yard IM
Eli Haase, Calvary, SR
Haase and his three teammates have continued to find success in the 200-yard freestyle relay where they are the defending state champion. Haase has reached the podium five other times with three 2nd place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke, 500-yard backstroke, and 200-yard freestyle.
Jackson Morton, Calvary, JR
Along with the relay races mentioned above, Morton has two other podium appearances with a 1st place finish in the 100-yard backstroke and a 3rd place finish in the 200-yard IM
Samuel Ponder, Calvary, SO
With Haase, Morton, and Jackson Burney and the relay team’s success, Ponder reached the podium in four races with 2nd and 3rd finishes in the 100-yard backstroke, 2nd place in the 100-yard freestyle, and 3rd place in 100-yard IM.
