The Calvary Lady Cavaliers volleyball squad reached some historic milestones over the last week. With the win over Evangel, Calvary became undefeated district champs for the second consecutive year. Last year was the team’s first district title. The Lady Cavaliers also crossed the 30-win mark. Only one other team in Louisiana, No. 1 Division I Dominican, has accomplished that feat this year. They are only the second team in North Louisiana to reach that mark. Ruston finished 33-9 in 2018.
Rolling into the last week of the season, the Lady Cavaliers are currently ranked at No. 3 in the Division V power rankings. No. 2 Westminster Christian has a stronghold on that position. Calvary has a 0.47 lead over No. 4 Episcopal of Acadiana. A win by West Monroe on Thursday should be strong for the No. 3 spot. It will also be determined how Episcopal of Acadiana does in their tournament on the final weekend. That tournament will feature 20 teams including 10 teams ranked top 5 or higher across divisions: Division I No. 1 Dominican, Division I No. 2 St Joseph’s Academy, Division II No. 1 St. Thomas More, Division II No. 2 Teurlings Catholic, Division II No. 4 Assumption, Division III No. 2 E.D. White, Division III No. 5 Iota, Division IV No. 1 Ascension Episcopal, Division IV No. 2 Lafayette Christian, Division IV No. 5 Notre Dame, and Division V No. 2 Westminster Christian.

Calvary will close out next week with senior night against Northwood on Monday and the final regular-season game at home against West Monroe. Playoff brackets will be released on Monday, November 1. The Cavaliers will be guaranteed a home first-round game and possibly a second-round home game.
