The Calvary Cavaliers and Lady Cavaliers dominated in the North Regionals at Ruston High School on Friday and Saturday last week. Calvary Lady Cavaliers took overall second place as a team for the regionals.

Kailey Brookshire took Outstanding Female Wrestler in Lighter Divsions. Brookshire broke regional records with her squat with 320 lbs and bench with 185 lbs. She achieved a personal best on her 325 lbs deadlift to lift a total 830 lbs. The 830 lbs. was the third highest in all weight classes in Division V. Brookshire was only surpassed by Amaya Killian of Delhi and Shaunika Oyara of Homer, both of which are in the SHW weight class.

Calvary Lady Cavaliers won three other weight classes with Skylar Odom winning the 132 division. Odom won the overall divsion by 75. Kaylin Little took the 148 division crown with 730 lbs total. She’ll have her work cut out at state though because the East Regional Champ Lauren Politz of Holder lifted 800. Aubrey Mays took the 114 division at Regionals and overall in Division V with 665 lbs.

Other making the podium for the Lady Cavaliers were Mya Evans in the 105 division and Hannah Guerrero in the 165 division. At regionals, the results are mixed in across all classifications (5A-C). Evans and Guerrero finished atop the Division V (Only Class A-B-C) statewide standings in their respective classes. Eighth grader Emma Grace Lazarus finished third overall at regionals and second overall in Division V.

On the boys side, Cameron Fileccia took top honors in the 123 weight class as he surpassed second place Zavion Davis from Captain Shreve by 80 pounds. Fileccia lifted 345 lbs on squat, 185 on bench, and 375 lbs on dead lift for a combined 905 lbs. In Divsion V, he is ahead of second place Cavalier teammate Dalton Lang by 155 lbs.

Other making the podium for the Cavaliers were Roderick Harris and Latarraus Jackson who finished second and third, respectively in the 132 weight class. The combo finished 1-2 in the Divsion V state standings. Cameron Thomas and Joseph Willis each took a second place finish at regionals but a No. 1 ranking in the Division V standings in the 165 weight class and 181 weight class, respectively. Jordan Wallace took home the third place prize at regionals in the 148 weight class.

As for qualification for the state tournament, all the Calvary Lady Cavs and Cavaliers qualified the lift at the state competion in Monroe on March 19-21. The Lady Cavaliers and Cavaliers qualified 11 each for the state competition.

Homer was next on the list of qualifiers as they qualified nine overall with six Pelicans and three Lady Pelicans. Haynesville will be sending seven Lady Tornadoes to throw down in Monroe in a couple of weeks. Castor will be sending two to compete at the state tournament. Ringgold also qualified one to compete.
